Episode Outline
For TGG's 20th episode and after 2 years, the Ethiopian Civil War has shown few signs of slowing down or ceasing. In 2021, it was considered the deadliest war in the world. In this conversation, Pyotr spoke with Will Davison of the International Crisis Group, at the beginning of October - before the major peace talks were successful - to reflect on the past several months and the successes or setbacks facing both sides. Questions in this episode included:
- How have the conditions changed in Tigray, as well as across other provinces in Ethiopia?
- What is the role of Eritrea in the conflict and how significant is it?
- Have the interferences from others like Turkey or UAE with drones influenced the direction of the war?
- What could be a realistic and mutually-acceptable solution for both sides?
- Could the conflict destabilize the Horn of Africa?
