Originally from South Africa, Tina and her husband Peter were travelling around the world when they stumbled upon the Gladiators television show and got hooked!  Whilst working in the UK they both applied to be Contenders on the show, sadly Peter didn't make the cut, however, Tina excelled in the audition but wasn't selected as a Contender... she was Gladiator material!

Tina was transformed into Laser whilst filming was already underway in the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, for the fifth series of the show in 1996. Due to a series of injuries to the female Gladiators squad, Laser was the true allrounder needed to keep the Contenders at bay. With very limited training time, and in some cases no training time, on the events Laser proved to be a force to be reckoned with on Duel, Suspension Bridge and Powerball.

Sadly, Visa problems halted her from heading over to Mauritius for the Gladiators Training Camp and she was also unable to return to take part in the sixth series of Gladiators in the UK. However, on recommendation from the UK producers, she was picked up by the South African Gladiators team and was bizarrely transformed from Laser into Sheena - becoming the first person in the world to be a Gladiator in two different countries.
