Sound quality is consistently terrible/variable
I’m a longtime listener but I get incredibly frustrated when I have to constantly adjust my volume. The problem has a considerable impact on the quality of the podcast quality. Great stories that are poorly engineered.

Evictions during the Pandemic: In Montana
Thank you for your thoughtful reporting on evictions during the pandemic I so sympathize with these tenants. Still I feel the anguish of losing my place after 16 years w/rent paid 2 mos. ahead all due to our local Health departments hypocrisy. I work for a hospital as well, but false accusations left me abandoned and homeless with my 16 y.o. Son while I was working two jobs. The pain of this experience left me jaded, saddened w/ lingering heartache. Great Reporting TY

Biased in reporting & choice of topics
It is a real shame that there is nothing “National” about NPR anymore. The bias is so ridiculous. This is disaster porn and victimhood narrative over and over. From the elegiac music to the long pauses for dramatic effect it is hard to find sober and objective news or story telling here. Great production value but poorly balanced. You may educate more listeners by trying to be critical of all systems, processes, and beliefs...not just the ones you disagree with. People want to learn new ideas & information; not be fed a one sided narrative.

Tired and scared
Really stunned at the way all of this is going down! Trump has been mistreated and REPORTED about falsely and unfairly! Shame on all of you! I’m out goodbye!

Biased
I enjoy balanced and factually reporting. Lately the biased reporting has been very noticeable. I do not plan to listen anymore.

I DON’T WANT TO SHOOT YOU
This is not a review of the podcast, and instead a few comments about a particular episode. The episode on November 28, 2018, was about a black male (“RJ”), who had a gun and threatened to kill himself. His girlfriend called the police and the first officer that arrived was talking RJ down and did not shoot RJ. However, 2 officers responded a couple of minutes later, and they shoot RJ. This podcast, and RJ’s family try to bring race as an issue but race had nothing to with why RJ was shot. The victim’s sister, Heather, is utterly ridiculous and wants her brother’s death to be because of race or some fault of the police, she even says “the police shoot first and ask questions later” when the police appeared and asked her brother, RJ to put the gun down, and he refused, it does not matter that the gun was unloaded. SO THE POLICE SPECIFICALLY ASKED RJ TO DROP THE GUN AND AFTER RJ REFUSED AND MOVED HIS HAND AROUND WITH THE GUN IN HIS HAND THE POLICE OFFICERS THEN KILLED RJ. SO THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR RJ’S DEATH WAS RJ, AND HEATHER DOES NOT WANT TO ACCEPT THAT FACT. THE POLICE DID NOTHING WRONG AND RACE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RJ’S DEATH. ...... THE RESPONDING OFFICER NADER IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT ACTED CORRECTLY, THE BACKUP OFFICERS SPECIFICALLY KUZMAH (SP) IS AN IDIOT AND HAS THE TEMERITY TO BLAME NADER FOR NOT SHOOTING RJ. I UNDERSTAND THE GRIEF OF RJ’S FAMILY BUT MY GOD HIS SISTERS ARE JUST RIDICULOUS IN THEIR COMMENTS AND OUTRAGE THAT THEIR BROTHER WAS SHOT - THEY NEED TO ACCEPT THAT RJ IS DEAD BECAUSE RJ CHOSE TO DIE AND BRANDISHED A PISTOL AND REFUSED TO DROP THE PISTOL AFTER THE POLICE ASKED SEVERAL TIMES, AND IT IS OFFENSIVE THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO BLAME THE POLICE AND BRING RACE AS REASONS FOR RJ’S DEATH.

“Transparancy”?
Clearly, a left leaning, very biased reporting of todays current state of affairs. I was on board with your “journalism” until your Trump/Biden series. I’m an undecided voter and would have liked to have heard more fair, unbiased reporting. This truly makes me sad.

Transparency?
Being a (former) Frontline fan, I read the first three descriptions of the most recent episodes. I’m perplexed about the title “transparency.” Perhaps there should be an episode compiled about how biased this podcast is, Now that would be transparent.

Important but covered
Very intelligently done. A picture of a smart city in a smart state, being held back by regulations and executive denial.

No real facts
Does not give any real insight just wants to cast blame. Typical media trying to evoke emotions.

Thorough reporting worth listening to.
Very informative episode. Well worth listening to broaden your mind about what are facing as a country.

Nothing new
Nothing to see here. No new information, just a blame game. And that helps solve anything ...? How?

Narration
Nobody but nobody should be narrating anything associated with Frontline but Will Lyman. Once I heard the first word out of the mouth of someone else, I unsubscribed. What a shame.

Excellent journalism, listenable podcast
While I the amount of effort that goes into the journalistic process, it plays a bit like a written story hastily adopted for audio. Not groundbreaking but thoroughly informative. Would recommend individual episodes like Child Marriage.

Amy’s tribute - Weight of Dust
Thank you Amy for your touching tribute to your dad. It is seldom that a podcast makes me cry but yours did. Thank you for keeping his legacy alive and telling his story. I hope it helps others dealing with their losses from that day. DY

Need new narrator -otherwise great
Excellent podcast with world class reporting (as FRONTLINE is know for) however, the opening narration by Raney Aronson makes this borderline impossible to listen to. It is worth listening if you can get thru the first 30 seconds of Raney’s monotonous robotic tones. You can hear how bored she is in the way she introduces the stories. Just awful. She should stick to producing TV and let someone with a more charismatic voice introduce the stories. She has the charisma of mark zuckerburg and a terminator t-800 mixed together —blah bland and robotic. Get someone to narrate who is genuinely interested in the topics and makes you excited to listen. Looking forward to new season and stories so long as they replace raney with someone with a better voice. Would be 5 stars if it had a better opening narrator.

Exceeded my expectations--and they were high!
The first season of this podcast was phenomenal. The range, the quality, the depth of the reporting were all so impressive, but even more was the fact that the podcast introduced me to issues like child marriage in the US, and juveniles put away for life, that I was hardly aware. KUDOS, and greatly looking forward to the second season!

High quality journalism
Now more than ever, we need this type of proper, professional, objective journalistic coverage!

Balance
Great balance to this piece. Acknowledging the reality of the perspective of both sides of the issue grants me the space to understand the complexity of the issue and truly engage in a more tolerant way as a voter to find and support a true solution.

Hopeful
Hopefully next series is more compelling.

No thanks
While I enjoy listening to the Frontline from tv formatted for the podcast, this actual podcast was a big disappointment. The young journalist that is narrating the show sounds like a 12 year old, and I find it difficult to listening to riveting subject matter when the host makes statements in the form of questions, and gravel talks their way through serious subject matter. Maybe when she grows up, or they get a new host, then the show might be worthwhile.

This podcast needs an award!!!
Just got listening to the living with a murder episode, wow!!! This is journalism at its finest!!! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, thank you so much for the content. Man, the time and dedication that it takes for these stories is ridiculous and very much appreciated!!!
ALX8721
Content interesting
But why does the narrator speak in a baby-ish voice? It's distracting and hard to listen to because of it. Baby talking is demeaning to intelligence. I used to do this when I was younger and trying to fit into this pretty-cute mold I thought was expected of me in American culture. When I hear women talking in this voice it's distracting from the content.

Excellent journalism
I have always loved the television Frontline series. So thankful to now have an audio series for my commute. My only complaint: wish they had a new one everyday!

A Must Listen
Investigative and thoughtful journalism has gone by the wayside these days, but podcasts like these give me hope. I look forward to hearing more episodes.

So great!
I'm a big Frontline fan on PBS so obviously I would like this podcast. That being said the production value and news depth of what is presented in each episode is really at the highest quality you can imagine. The depth of the stories that they go into in the 45 minutes to an hour of each episode are really compelling and something you will really enjoy listening to.

Compelling story telling
The first episode posted, about child marriage in America, was incredibly well done. Interesting characters and a detailed look into something I had no idea about prior to listening. It is an example of some of the finest story telling available on podcasts right now and I cannot wait for the next episode to drop!
