What you think is directly related to what you know. That’s why it is important to make learning the mind of Christ a daily habit. The Bible says “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17). When you stay away from false information and concentrate on learning and applying Biblical truths, you will think with a divine viewpoint. But unconfessed sin will pollute your thinkin’ and block you from understanding God’s plan for your life. “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor 2:11). Don’t let Satan use your tongue to start a fire. “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matt 7:1). Sins of the tongue originate from stinkin’ thinkin’.

When you catch yourself thinking with a human viewpoint, stop and reorient your thinking. Stinkin’ thinkin’ is thinking with human viewpoint, not divine viewpoint. It has to do with bad attitudes and negative volition to learning and thinking with the mind of Christ. “As a man thinks in his heart so he is” (Prov 23:7). As a Christian, you must respect the Word of God and learn it. “Whatever is honorable” (Phil 4:8). Within God’s Word, we are to respect the laws of divine establishment: the individual with volition; marriage; family and nationalism. The public arena is the main area of contention used by Satan today to weaken and dissolve the USA.

What you think reveals the real you. Man looks at the outward appearance, God looks in your mind. Your spiritual life is lived in your thoughts. This study focuses on stinkin’ thinkin’—thinkin’ based on human viewpoint, not divine viewpoint. The Bible is very clear about how to think. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Rom 12:2). How do you renew your thoughts? By studying the mind of Christ. “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things” (Phil 4:8).

You can only have an impact on the devil’s world if you choose to renovate your thinking and grow to spiritual maturity. “Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me. My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matt 11:28-29). This is how you will be made rich spiritually because you will develop a treasure in your soul—the treasure of the Word of God. You’re not here to clean up the devil’s world, that’s not your job. God will handle this. Your job is to grow spiritually. Satan’s worried about you thinking as Christ thought, learning divine viewpoint, using the 10 problem-solving devices, and being part of the pivot that will hold this nation together.

When we don’t discipline ourselves, we wind up assassinating our spiritual lives. You must be able to control your sin nature and stay filled with the Holy Spirit. What makes you a good Christian is following the protocol plan of God. “Christ in you the hope of glory” (Col 1:27). How do you TRASH your spiritual life and become a castaway believer? You distort the truth. “My ways are much higher than your ways” (Is 55:8). Rebound is minimized. You don’t recover from sin and stay in carnality. You reject the authority of God’s Word. Sin is overlooked and you begin to minimize sin. You humanize God. When you are content and advancing to spiritual maturity then God will pour out more blessings on you because they won’t distract you and they won’t destroy you.

Self-examination based on Scripture is critical for every Christian. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer” (Psalm 19:14). Success starts with what you think in your soul. Remember, God hears your words and knows what you are thinking. “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear” (Eph 4:29). You are to think with the mind of Christ and take on His personality profile of being merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth (Ps 86:15). The world only offers mind pollution.

If you want to be the person God can use, you must realize your position in Christ and not be distracted. You need to recognize when you sin, use the problem-solving device of rebound, and recover your spiritual momentum. This is key to living the Christian life. “Be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Eph 5:18). This is a mandate from God. Realize the importance of counting the cost, evaluating, before you undertake any project that could be a distraction to your spiritual life. “I say this for your own benefit, not to put a restraint on you but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord” (1 Cor 7:35). The world will distract you, Satan will deceive you and if you let your sinful nature control you, it will destroy you. Reclaim your affections. “Do not love the world nor the things of the world” ((1 John 2:15). Use self-discipline to keep your thoughts captive. “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God and we take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus” (2 Cor 10:5). If you are going to run the race and not be set aside, you must recapture your thoughts, reclaim your affections, realize your position in Christ, redirect your focus, redefine your values and reorder your priorities. You are a product of your volition.

You must never blend or bend in your faith. Defend the truth of God’s Word. “Retain the standard of sound doctrine that you have received from me in the faith and the love which are in Christ Jesus. Guard by means of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you the treasure which has been entrusted to you” (2 Tim 1:13-14). The quickest way to get disqualified from finishing the race God has set you to run is to step out of bounds and get off course by staying in carnality. You have been given the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you in all truth. Let Him do His job. “He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). “Be sober, be vigilant” (1 Pet 5:8). Don’t be intoxicated with the influence of the world). When you try to live the Christian life outside the power of the Holy Spirit and the direction of the truth of the Word of God, you will fall into evil.

The supernatural blessings and privileges you have as a member of the royal family of God do not guarantee supernatural success. You must decide to run the race, to follow the rules, to stay on course and to complete the mission. You must learn to control your volition to stay filled with Holy Spirit and not get distracted by the lures of the world or the temptations of your sin nature. This is why learning God’s Word is so important. So you have a Biblical framework, divine viewpoint, in your soul that allows your volition to see its choices and make good decisions. If you don’t, God may set you aside. “Lest after having been a herald to others, I myself could be set aside” (1 Cor 9:37). Satan would love to stop the dissemination of the truth of God’s Word. God left us here to be the proclaimers of the truth. Never be ashamed of the gospel. “I do all things for the sake of the gospel so that I may become a fellow partaker of it” (1 Cor 9:23). If you fail to proclaim the good news, you are failing to fulfill the mission that God left you here to do.

To reach spiritual maturity you must have the self-discipline to learn God’s Word on a consistent, daily basis. This requires using your volition to prioritize God’s Word in your life and to say no to the lures of the world. You must also have self-control. This is learned from the Word of God. “In your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance” (2 Pet 1:6). Knowledge of God is your objective. If you don’t stay filled with the Holy Spirit and learn God’s plan for your life, He can’t use you. You’ve become a castaway. You’re a product of your volition and decisions. Choose God and His amazing plan for your life.
