I want to love this podcast
I want desperately to love this podcast so much. I agree with these guys 100% of the time; but oh dear, can Michael Moynihan please stop bloviating and let Matt and Kmele get a word in edgewise?!?

Would have loved to stay, but…
The sound quality is absolutely horrible. Sounds like one guy is swallowing the mic while another is ten feet away from his. Pull that together and I’ll be back. Thanks.

Kmele v Megyn
Kmele don’t let Megyn boss you like that. You get five words out and she bellows over you, I Disagree. No one cares Stringy Hair let Kmele make his point. Kmele is the host of The Fifth Column. He exposed the heinous birder! Meg is cashing in on a 2nd Act as a Trump Pick Me.

Honesty
I do like your show a lot but I do think sometimes you let the right off the hook and seem to hold the left to a different standard.

Good Bye. I simply cannot stand the constant droning and dribble coming from Michael Moynihan’s trap. If you decide to put a muzzle on Michael Moynihan then I might entertain following again, but until then it’s simply not worth the time to listen to the most ridiculous nonsense from the narcissistic Michael Moynihan.

Contradictory Thoughts
The same charge leveled at DJT is rampant in the hosts own thinking and articulation of a contrary narrative. Maybe he drives you to contradictory thoughts, as well? Anyway, mind your own “through line”.

I’ll give them another try.
So after writing the review below, I tried a bunch of episodes. It was a different pod. The Zweig episode was rich in details, lots of hard data and no giggling. The 3 I just heard were back to 3 guys giggling, broad generalities, and the same cheap shots you can get anywhere. I think one was on Marjorie Taylor Green (an easy target for a mediocre podcast; why not go after flat earthers), something about the Koch brothers which had no point, a loooong rant on one of the hosts getting drunk which reminded me of college when a friend felt he needed to tell me how drunk he got last night. In short, a waste of time. Zweig was so different, I’m hopeful it’s a policy change for the show and I’ll listen to a new one soon. My guess these guys just lucked out and we’ll be back to more high school shows. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Previous review. Listened to a few episodes a year or so ago, gave the review one star and commented that it was just another light weight NPR and I unsubscribed. Well, I bumped into a recent episode with David Zweig on the school lockdowns. It was a surprisingly good description of how these decisions are made. In particular, he described how the NYT purposely misled people to support their agenda. Ok, I admit my bias against almost all media on the left and right. Anyway, maybe they’ve discovered some journalistic integrity. I’ll try them again.

Great show one host has major TDS now
This show has been a staple for the last couple years. It’s wild to see a pretty logical person like Moynihan get so afflicted with TDS. He just can’t see the actions from the person anymore. The other two hosts are still solid as can be and call balls and strikes. Trump does some crazy stuff but flying off the handle at every little thing is too much.

Bunch of Clowns
I couldn’t even finish one episode. The way you treated Batya was despicable. Shame on you.

Batya Ungar-Sargon
Batya Ungar-Sargon seems like one of the kindest, most caring human beings on the planet… innately lovable. Agree or disagree, she has a right to her opinion - and she does take the time to at least explain where she’s coming from. She’s not an idiot as some on here would suggest. I love hearing multiple sides of an issue, and I loved the heated debate… The only thing I didn’t love was when Michael told her (and Kmele) to ‘shut the F up’… I thought that crossed the line from heated debate to disrespectful. I would’ve appreciated an apology from Micheal on that specific disrespect. -Love Kmele’s laugh -Appreciate Michael’s knowledge, thought process… And endearing arrogance -Matt seems like your best friend‘s dad growing up… A good guy

Conventional Takes With a Side of Smugness
If what you are looking for is simply a regurgitation of the conventional media take on any subject, but desire it delivered with a patina of smug condescension, absence of any nuance and prejudgment of an argument based on the identity of who is making it, then this podcast is for you. Moynihan, surprisingly, the main offender lately.

Batya Ungar-Sargon Interaction
Michael Moynihan, don’t apologize for your interaction with Batya Ungar-Sargon. I’ve heard her over and over again carry water for the egregiously stupid things Donald Trump does. And those people often need to have aggressive pushback. Not doing it allows them to live in their alternative reality thinking everyone agrees with them.

3 on 1
I’ve been a loyal listener. Batya asked the question that I have always been disappointed in the Fifth Column crew for never ever answering “ what is your plan” ??? Kamile is always A+. Welch is C at best and Moynihan is just like he always is on Vice,Honestly Substack etc says everything is horrible but never has a solution. Try to think about solutions vs complaining and your show would be a lot better.

Your guest sucked
Your guest sucked (Zweig). Even though it's fortunate that many kids survive Covid and aren't the most at risk demographic, Zweig seems to be ignoring the fact that they can and do spread it to their teachers, their families, their teacher's families, etc. Expecting teachers to be ok with reinfecting themselves and their own families over and over is a huge ask in a country with no social safety net, no sick leave, and little access to health care for many people. The US did worse than just about any country as far as infection and death rates, and this was experienced disproportionately by poor and working class people. What does Zweig think should have happened? Schools also had shut downs when there was no one to teach or drive the school busses. Countless people became infected because of kids bringing home the virus. Something like 200,000 kids list one or both parents and countless kids lost grandparents. This guest sucked and my opinion of your podcast has seriously declined.

Smart, political, funny and bitingly sardonic
Just what I’m looking for to keep informed. The irony and edgy humor helps soothe the pain while learning about the concerning things that are happening every day.

The 5th ROCKS
I’m always in the mood to hear these guys banter. Whether it be about current politics, love of culture, or their personal life, they have me in hysterics. Moynihan is hilarious, Kmele is the innocent protege, and Welsh brings his knowledge and wit into these drunken rabbit holes, that I enjoy. Don’t take it all overly seriously, although they are intellectually entertaining, love you three and keep the recommendations coming! Loveyoumeanit boys 🥰

Scruples, thank God
I don’t always agree with them, but their scruples are always intact. In today’s media landscape that’s far far too hard to come by! As a “raging moderate” they are 1 of the top 5 opinions I seek out regularly.

I’ve had enough
It would be a decent show without Moynihan. He rambles and mumbles with run on sentences so much you lose track of what the guy’s point is. Learn to be concise and use periods!

It’s getting worse
I can’t see why people pay for this content. They appear to have little or no preparation. Sure, it is funny at times, and I do like Kmele is a deep thinker, but there is very little quality in most episodes despite the length of one hour or more. Michael and Matt represent the old view on too many subjects and unfortunately are out of touch with anyone who is not an NYC, big city, materialist type.

Makes me laugh out loud
Funny, smart guys making each other laugh while talking politics. What’s not to love?

Love Show, but Health Care
Amazing show! I love the insight and think I’m indeed a libertarian! I had to cringe however when you suggested insurance companies should have a bigger hand in health care. Yes doctors make money, but those in contract with insurance companies have no say in what they charge for services and if a patient’s insurance won’t pay, the doctor cannot provide the service for cash. State services barely pay for the lights and staff. I could go on. I just suggest more digging on this one. It’s practically impossible to privately own a practice now, because insurance companies have so much control.

Huffing its own farts
Self satisfied, smug and supercilious hosts and guests are constantly condescending and fast aspersions on others who are actually doing something productive. I guess you have to live in Manhattan or their definition of the right neighborhoods of Brooklyn to appreciate this self serving smarm.

Um
Seriously, Welch needs to bow out of the podcasting world. Smart guy, good writer, but a terrible speaker. Makes this and Reason Roundtable almost impossible to listen to. They could tighten up the format and talk more policy. They spend a lot of time pretending Moynahan is funny and pretending Foster wants to be on the show. Time to rethink gentlemen. We'll need you over the next four years, so get your show in order.

The Fifth Column train jumped the track
These guys are funny at times, but today when they announced they aren’t voting because their feelings are hurt by both candidates I had to get off the train. Grow up you pansies and grow a pair. Leaders are abrasive, get over it. One of these candidates will continue to lie and demonize half the country while at the same time open the door to illegals and normalizes sexual predators who invade our daughters and wives spaces… and the other candidate will set the social politics aside and run this country like a business and in the process bring opportunity to every American regardless of race regardless of what CNN and MSNBC tells you.

If you like smarmy back patting you’ll love this podcast
A bunch of people with verbal diarrhea talking over each other - never uttering an original thought. Ug. I tried it a number of times but it is beyond annoying. I can’t believe how many people are suckered in by this b.s. and somehow think it’s serious or interesting.

January 6
I agree January 6 is something we should not forget about. It was a bad DAY in history, but for the moderators to bring that up, but not the THREE years of riots in Minnesota, which destroyed many small black owned businesses, while Governor Walz did nothing is also a bad time in our history, and should’ve been been brought up as well. You can’t bring up one without the other. I think people are tired of the double standards.

Sometimes good
I enjoyed listening to the different viewpoints and considered becoming a paid subscriber. Sadly this has turned into nonsense. They need to add a strong, logical person to question, challenge and counter Moynihan. Could have some interesting debate.

pretty good
decent podcast, hosts are funny and have good chemistry. sadly braindead takes on israel but its easy enough to overlook for the good bits.

News content thinner than a bulimic
I’d call it a circle jerk, but Kmele always seems to hog all the lotion to himself. In fact, I encourage him to continue giving TEDx talks in front of his mirror (a la Narcissus) at home and leave it to M&M to give their more historically-informed analyses of current events. If you took a 90 minute show, removed all the laugh track filler, and boiled it down to true news editorial content, you’d produce a fantastic and engaging 20-30 minute show. Can’t wait until AI can do just that for me. To those in the reviews complaining about Michael filibustering though… at least he’s the clever one.

Used to be good
It’s turned into too much Michael over talking and rambled mumbling over everyone. Kmele and Matt do not stand a chance in his overtalk and all about Michael attitude. What use to great discussions is now paywalls and rambling. If podcast is your business find a new career!

Downhill
I was a paying subscriber for years. It’s the first of two podcasts I’ve given money to and I genuinely enjoyed and looked forward to the weekly content. However, the show is not what it used to be. It has turned into a nutpicking show that focuses on whatever ridiculous thing that comes out of whatever ridiculous person’s (usually left wing) mouth. If you’re interested in that then this is your show. If not, I highly recommend the group of podcasts from The Dispatch. P.S. Thanks for the good times gents, and good luck.

Solid pod. Honest. Gutsy.
Funny, irreverent, with loads of guts, courage and insight. No MSNBC leftist drivel, and no FOX theatrics. They analyze and mock BOTH sides, as they should. A solitary voice of reason in bizarre culture war times. Totally worth listening and paying. Intelligent, provocative and highly entertaining,

Love the Moynihan Show + his standing guests
Love the show, guests and banter. Moynihan clearly loves the sound of his voice and dominates the conversation. He also talks over Kmele too much. Want more Kmele.

Excellent IDF propaganda
It’s a great podcast if you believe being born in occupied Palestine as a Palestinian makes you subhuman vermin who deserves to be exterminated by IDF terrorists for the convenience of zionists.

Not bad at all. You can hear the chemistry between the hosts and the topics are informative.

Bitter Bro Fest 2024
These guys are individually smart but collectively their bitterness is off the charts. Glad they have each other as friends and companion complainers but these kind of bitter-bro relationships don’t not make for good podcast chemistry. Unsubscribing after giving it a few months….
BACNE SPEARS
Unsubscribed
They’re just as biased and prone to bad arguments as the people they criticize.
