012 - Stepping Into Risk W/ Vannessa Peace Robinson
Join Vannessa Robinson and myself as we converse about “What else is there?” It’s valuable to ask ourselves in every area of our lives, “What am I not seeing? Who is available that I’m not seeing? Who am I cutting out, intentionally or not?” Whether it’s receiving feedback from someone, taking that big step into a new endeavor or maybe considering what else may be true in any given situation, usually the answer to “What else is there?” requires an amount of risk taking; and we have to risk our being to truly live. Vannessa is an entrepreneur, a creative, a personal trainer, and an excellent baker who makes delicious treats! I think you are going to love what she has to say today about moving through life with hope, perseverance, grit and a sense of fun.

009 - What does it actually mean to develop your character?
There's an interesting definition of character, which is: the mark that is left on you by someone else. My character leaves a distinct mark on the people I come into contact with as does yours on the people you come in contact with. So when we talk about character, we're talking about that element of our personhood that communicates our values in a tangible way. It's our values, plus our attitude, plus our actions that come out of them. So what does it look like to develop our character? Here are two of the best places to start.

008 - These two things have been my greatest teachers
If you're like me, maybe you've read a lot of fantastic books, watched great Netflix shows, documentaries, done research on different things, had amazing conversations with people; but if you're going to distill it down, who or what would you say has been your greatest teacher in these past 12 months? I know for me, it's two different things: Loss and being around small children. Over the last 6 months, I've lost two really close friends. We also have our two grandchildren living with us right now. Both experiences have proven to be valuable teachers. Here's what they have taught me.

007 - Are You Virtue Signalling YOURSELF?
There's been a lot of conversation over the last 10 months or so about Virtue Signalling: attempting to show other people that you are a good person. What's interesting about virtue signalling is that it usually involves presenting oneself in a good light on social media, for example, but then doing something else in private. If you really think about it though, isn't it true that we are also continually virtue signalling to OURSELVES? We are looking to prove, mostly to ourselves, that we are good people.

006 - How Will You Spend Your Energy In 2021?
Our minds are designed to be predictive; it's part of our biology. And with everything that's gone on with the worldwide pandemic and a lot of upheaval in a million different ways, the need for certainty has ratcheted up higher and higher and higher, but is that something that's even available? I want you to mentally put yourself at the end of 2021 and then look back on today. What is going to make it worthwhile for you to use your metabolic energy in a way that produces the kind of person you long to be at the end of 2021? Are they more compassionate or kind? Do they have a deeper sense of their own humanity and the humanity of other people? Are they more willing to hold a conversation with a different belief group?

004 - Perfectionism Versus Excellence with Guided Meditation
Are you tired of being a perfectionist? In this podcast, I share my thoughts on how to notice where perfectionism exists in our lives and how there's a big difference between the act of being perfect, which is impossible for us as humans beings, versus living from a place of true excellence. What would life look like if perfectionism and true excellence were parsed apart? We end the podcast together with a guided meditation. HOPE really only exists in the jump. The second you land, it's gone and there's a new HOPE coming. But it's only in the middle of the jump, the messiness, the fear of "is this going to turn out" that HOPE lives. As humans, we avoid these moments like the plague, but these are THE moments that are going to get us where we most long to be.
