The body of Christ is made up of all kinds and types of people, unified by the blood of Christ into God’s family. These observations are meant to uphold wisdom, teach patience, and cause mutual love among all of the church. When we separate ourselves from others, we weaken the established structure of the Kingdom of God. Why be divided? Because they aren’t like you are? Because they wear socks with their sandals or enjoy a cup of Starbucks before heading to the office? Do you have the mindset of love and patience with all people? Or do you constantly find yourself ostracized from others?We hope you find unity and peace among the children of Christ. If you haven’t read the Bible from cover to cover, we encourage you to take on the task. Like any difficult task, it takes commitment and determination to do so. Once complete, you may find many things to have contemplated. You may find you are not the same person when you began reading. Like any other self-help process, to be successful, you cannot stay the same person through the process. You have to think. You must consider. You must adapt. You owe it to yourself to give the Bible a try. Then and only then are you fully faced with the choice of whether you carry its lessons with you for the rest of your life, or you place it back on your shelf and move on. in God We all experience moments in our lives where we lack confidence to say or do something. This is normal. Even to those who seem full of confidence. Knowledge and humility seem to be the things to prepare and practice to grow self confidence. What about confidence in something larger than yourself? Having confidence in God takes the same preparation and practice of knowledge and humility. Knowledge can be gained by the active reading and contemplation of the Bible. In our season of thankfulness, we look at our attitudes and being thankful in the Bible. We look at a story in I Samuel 25, where David and his men encounter Nabal and his wife Abigail. Have you ever been slighted when you thought you should be thanked? Have you acted like David and gotten revenge? David was fortunate because of Abigail’s actions. She interrupted David’s revenge plot and caused him to rethink his choices. Abigail’s actions caused David and his men to reclaim their attitude of thankfulness. It is easy to lose focus on your thankful heart and cause yourself or others to stumble. For this Thanksgiving, remember all the things to be thankful for. Keeping up with your expectations of where you think you should be is a slippery slope of selfishness. Whether you are talking social media, your neighbors, or someone in the grocery store, it’s not difficult to see and compare yourself to others. The Bible speaks of satisfaction, or contentment, with your life, and the things of this world. With a mindset of giving and care for others, as well as a growing reliance on the Lord and His gifts, satisfaction with what you have is a desirable thing to achieve. The Bible does not want for spooky or scary concepts and ideas. There is a specific creature mentioned repeatedly in the Bible which causes fear and wonderment, the Leviathan. Whether this creature is still lurking in the depths, or has been tamed by the ancients of old, we still deal with our own Leviathans today. The choices we make, from the effects of peer pressure or the crippling weight of decisions past, can haunt us more than a scary movie or story.
