Surabhee and Sayuri are co-founders of The Project Amara, a youth-led organisation based in Pune, India working to make menstruation more sustainable for menstruating bodies and the environment. After learning about the hazards caused by sanitary napkins, they made it their goal four years ago to create a culture that is period positive, make sustainable menstrual products equally accessible to everyone, and bring about period parity in India.
In this episode, we discuss the health and environmental hazards of conventional period products, the importance of including non-menstruators in the conversation of normalising menstruation, why periods are a gender equality issue, and how to generate sustainable and equitable long-term change.

As a student, I do this in my free time with hopes of making these conversations accessible, and this would contribute greatly to continuing the show.
