As humans, I think our need to know is one of our greatest faults. Like, our ability to confidently arrive at the answer of “I don’t know” is nearly nonexistent.. Humans require an explanation for everything. We have endless access to information and it has really spoiled us and corrupted our ability to conceive contentment in the unknown because we feel so in control as we’re privileged to so much information. We’ve idolized knowledge and confused understanding with contentment. And it’s like our peace rests in the reasoning, it rests in the answers, but there are some things in this world that cannot be reasoned, that can only be speculated. So, if that’s where we are looking for our peace, we’ll never ever find it.

As Christians, it is our responsibility to discern the things around us so that we might continue in the righteousness of Christ. We should be walking a path of righteousness, pursing the will of the Father. How can we know the will of the Lord if we aren’t distinguishing between what is of Him and what is not. See some of us are still using our human moral compass to navigate life and the decisions we make. The key to living an uncompromised life really is our ability to exercise discernment. Our failure to distinguish between what honors God and what dishonors God leaves us as Christians subject to all the things that will come against us in this world and we’ve already agreed that there will be plenty. When we allow our minds to be influenced by things that dishonor God we can develop an unbiblical mindset which results in unfruitful and disobedient living leaving us distanced from God and completely unfulfilled.
