Love this podcast
If you, too, were raised in a cult that your friends and family are gaslighting you into thinking was an actual religion sent to the white people of America to save them from the evil brown people of … also America, this is the podcast for you. Seriously though, it is incredibly validating to hear other people agree that reformed Egyptian is fake, men shouldn’t marry dozens of teenagers, and a multi billion dollar church doesn’t need my meager two mites for me to get into heaven in a veil and a bakers cap with a fake name I share with everyone who happened to be in the same building as me one day. Please don’t stop making this podcast. It is my therapy.

Thank you for helping me understand!
I am new and have gone back to listen in order. I’ve been having a great time and I’ve become obsessed! The reason is that I’m a non-Mormon who was raised in Utah. Having been raised there, adjacent to (if not immersed in the bubble of) Mormon culture, I learned what it could mean to be an outsider (as a kid, this was hard at times). Having grown up there, I had a better understanding than most non-Mormons of the religion, but this has helped me understand even more, and it feels important because l spent so much of my life wondering what I’d done to deserve some of the ostracizing treatment. Your podcast has helped me process some of that and I’ve had so much fun with you all in the process. Also, hot take, Ashley is my fav! Thanks y’all!

Love this podcast and the hosts! Always funny and good information My only complaint is that “mmmhmmmm” is said too much in reply to research.

Validating, Informative and Hilarious
I’m maybe part of the smaller percentage that listens to this podcast that is still “active” Mormon. I stay in the Church for the good stuff and have lots and lots and lots and LOTS of boundaries for myself and children for all the toxic and wrong things. I love how validated your perspectives have made me feel. I must admit though, I am a sinner that also enjoys to drink and tell people the prophet and apostles are wrong about several really big things. DJB, Lauren and Ashley are so great together! I love their down-to-earth natures and general respectfulness of humans. There is the perfect amount of irreverence to make it hilarious. I feel sad that I have binged all the episodes and you guys will no longer be the almost daily companions I’ve had in my earbuds the last several months when I take a break to try not to lose patience with the too many children I’ve had for the Lord (before I knew better), haha. ❤️❤️❤️

Very well done.
Fascinating and entertaining; DJB is witty and intelligent, and also continuously good-hearted and good-natured. Highly recommend.

It was love at first listen
I just found the podcast from a Facebook group I’m in, and I fell in love. This podcast is def helping Me deconstruct my faith and feel validated in my leaving the church. Had no idea we believed Caine was Bigfoot… who knew. Thank you guys for making me laugh through my faith crises it’s better than crying about a lifetime of being lied to LOL.

Snarky Informative
I adore this podcast! Non Mormon but close friends are. And pretty lame drinker, give me an amaretto sour and I’m good! This podcast is so fun! I really am so intrigued by the group and love learning all about it mainly (mainly to show it’s not real and a man made religion, but I digress). But I love the snarky remarks and commentary on the show. I would love to go on a Mormon field trip with Lauren and DJB! Also, if you ever want a guest who just gives sarcastic, witty remarks, I’m your gal 😆

Validating
This has been such a helpful podcast in my faith transition. I had left the church several years ago and it’s nice to hear about experiences I can relate to. I also appreciate that they bring in active members and everyone is lovely to each other. It’s also v queer and I love it!

Mormon History unrobed
This is an informative and fun look at Mormon history. DJB is exmo, hurt by the church but retains a certain Mormon-ness. Lauren is outspoken and irreverent. Ashley is knowledgeable, curious but level-headed. A great mix.

Episode 7
Love this podcast, I’m on episode 7, and I keep getting taken out of it, because one of the ladies sounds like Blake lively. Anyone else or just me?

The best, hands down!
I. Love. This. Podcast. The core trio of DJB, Lauren and Ashley are such a synergistic group, I’m always sad when one isn’t able to be on one of the episodes! Make a drink and take a listen! Great balance, fairness and humor to be found in this quirky adventure as two former mormons take their “never mormon” friend through the wonderful world that is Mormonism.

Love this podcast!!
I’ve been binge listening since July and I am almost caught up! Never been Mormon but half of my friend group was Mormon in high school. I would go to school about an hour early so that I could hang out with them after seminary. It’s very interesting learning what they were taught growing up. It’s awesome to get some answers to the questions that I had. Thank you for all that you do!

So fun!
This podcast is so fun. Really well-produced. They make a new mixed drink each time, teach Lauren (this darling, hilarious never-mo) something about Mormonism, and then do an activity. The way they make light of the experiences of being a Mormon enables me to look back and laugh instead of look back and cry. Thanks, guys!

From a fellow ex-mo
You guys are like the Drunk History for Mormons! What a fantastic podcast! I’ve honestly learned more about the history of Mormons than the 20+ years I was a member! Mind you, I’m a female (less teaching about history) & I stopped my indoctrination at around 16. Keep on putting out awesome content! Us ex-mo’s are growing in numbers & I tell all my ex-mo friends about your podcast 😊. PS… found out about your show via a nurse Instagram story that somehow devolved into talking about Mormons… 🤓

Bonding over this podcast
My husband is a “For-Mon” (a former mormon) and I grew up catholic. My in-laws are still practicing. I offered to read the Book of Mormon so I could understand who they are/believe. My husband was against that. This podcast has totally helped me understand the stuff my in-laws believe and gives a topic for my husband to tell me about his experiences. Thanks for this!

A Gentile in Utah
I am not Mormon and like Lauren, I have never been Mormon a day in my life! But I do live in Utah and have lived in SLC for almost 11 years. I LOVE this podcast. It is sooooo funny without being mean or vicious. I love how DJB often talks about Mormonism being both a religion and a culture. While I find many things problematic about the faith, I’ve really grown warm feelings (a burning in my bosom perhaps?) toward the culture as I’ve lived in Utah. Thank you DJB & Lauren! Xoxo

I adore them!
DJB and Lauren feel like old friends, I so enjoy listening to them! I’ve always been intrigued by the Mormon religion as I’ve had many Mormon friends growing up, but have never been religious myself so mormonism is quite the concept to grasp. They do a great job being respectful, are easy to follow, and are hilarious in presenting the information. You will not be bored with this podcast! Cheers to being my fav! Whitney

Love this podcast!
Obviously, they drink while recording. I grew up Mormon and just couldn’t keep living the lie. They have brought up some fun memories and cringe moments of my life. Keep doing what you’re doing. I feel like we are friends!!

ExMormon Convert- love this
I was a convert, went off to SVU got married in the temple and couldn’t get passed the Black people not getting the priesthood thing but my Black husband could... Among other things. No longer married, no longer in the church and love to laugh about (some) of it now. Awesome show guys!

Probably my favorite :)
This is one of the podcasts I look forward to more than most in my feed. As pioneer-stock raised former Mormon, it’s brought back cultural familiarity, but parsed out so much of the church I found confusing. Both hilarious and informative, I’m incredibly thankful to have this show and have a greater understanding that this was a church built by men, and for men. Thank you for the work you do DJB, Lauren, and Ashley!

I can’t stop listening
First off...I am only on episode 30 but I am plowing through to catch up. I read a lot of mormon history and hearing DJB explain some of these stories has me belly laughing. Informative and entertaining.

Obsessed
A bingeworthy look into the world of Mormonism and most of it’s “sacred secrets.”

Awesome Sauce!!
I love this podcast! I am binging it obsessively at work. My wife is a former Mormon and I have never been Mormon a day in my life. DJB and Lauren are like two good friends who keep me company at work. If you’re ever in Arizona again, I will be your straight wingman in the pursuit of your future Mormon ex-husbands.

LIFE CHANGING
Wow. Lauren and DJB, I cannot even express how you guys have changed my life and the lives of two of my best friends (all who have gone through a faith transition in the last few years). This podcast is LGBTQ+ friendly, informative, funny, and handles tough issues in a way that keeps listeners at ease but also attentive. While talking about Mormonism in The Culture is seen as taboo, Drunk Mormon Podcast raises up a needed spotlight on the churches past in a respectful, but drunkenly fun way. Both hosts have created a space that is so necessary for the current, never been, and post-Mormon/religious community to talk about religion and life experiences honestly. I am so grateful and have felt so validated as a queer post-Mormon hearing other people’s stories! I have learned more in this podcast than I did during my entire life in the church. You guys are amazing!

Amazing
I left the church a few years ago and I’m still currently living in Utah. My husband and entire family are still TBM’s so it’s been hard but a friend recommended this podcast and I am obsessed!!! You guys are hilarious!!!

Thoroughly Irreverent and Enjoyable
I’ve been binge listening to this podcast for the last few days, I cannot get enough. I’m pretty well versed in Mormon lore after a lifetime of belief and a couple years of ex-Mormon life, but there’s lots of new and interesting nuggets sprinkled into the fun here. So glad to have stumbled across this delightfulness! Thanks Lauren and DJB!!

As someone processing my new life post religion, it’s nice to have some friendly voices in my ear who also have a similar viewpoint to mine <3

Best Therapy Ever
I started going to therapy almost two years ago with the hope that it would help me figure out my post-Mormon life. No knock to my therapist, she rocks, but DMP is what has helped the most. The blend of comedy with fact is a brilliant way of presenting material. I’m now that person who tells every ex/faith crisis person she meets about your show. It’s brought me and my ex-mo brother (shout-out sockless!) closer, and helped us both finally submit our resignations. Sorry it took me a year to leave a review, I’m an android girl and this is my husbands account. He’s gonnna love that I wrote a review under him.

So I don’t have an iTunes account so this is my wife’s haha. But I love this show and support it on patron. I would love to be DBJ, Lauren and Ashley’s friend in real life. I’ve learned more about Mormonism than I ever imagined I could and it’s always fun and hilarious! I definitely recommend to everyone! Please play your fun game with me! And Instagram Live is fantastic! Really enjoying these firesides! Keep up the fantastic work! -Rev. Skyler

A Very Good Podcast.
One of my best friends demanded I listen to this podcast and I’m so happy I agreed! The atmosphere the hosts provides is so warm and welcoming, its like you’re joining a group of friends for drinks. I’ve never been Mormon a day in my life and I was blown away by what I’ve learned. Anyone who want a casual introduction to Mormonism or maybe a few new drink ideas, should give this podcast a try.

So Validating!!!
I love this podcast! I left the church 8 years ago and sort of shoved down a lot of my complicated feelings about it. This has been a great way for me to examine some of those things and feel some solidarity about the ways is made an impact on me for better or worse. It’s light hearted and clever, and hilarious! I am always anticipating the next episode and only wish I could have a cocktail with you sometimes! Cheers! Keep up the good work!

Like "Drunk History"... but Mormon
By far the most entertaining of the post-Mormon podcasts that I’ve listened to. DJB is faaaar more interesting than any of my Sunday school teachers ever were. His gift of storytelling (just like it says in his patriarchal blessing) helps him paint the picture of what it’s like sitting in a chapel on a typical Sunday with all its nuances that I had forgotten all about. He makes a point to do his research and put stories into context that helps Ex-Mo’s and Never-Mo’s alike understand what’s going on. Hearing Lauren’s reactions to these stories keeps the show lively and fun. She isn’t afraid to point out how the Book of Mormon skips over any mention of women, how disappointed she is in Joe Smith, and her enthusiasm about it all (“WHAAAATTTT?!!?!?!?”) will totally make your whole day. These friends, plus producer/designated driver, Ashley, don’t make a point to deliberately tear down or criticize the church because, well, the Mormon stories tend to do that on their own anyway! They simply speak from experience and from the heart. The format is solid, with a fun tune, witty intro and outro by Lauren (don’t skip the end music!), great lessons and activities, drink recipes, and special guests. It’s easy to picture them drinking up, having fun, telling stories, and sometimes you can hear a little heavy breathing from Oscar every now and then. They aren’t afraid to discuss anything from Joe Smith’s gold-digging days, how Hot Hyrum Smith got shot in the face, the temple rituals, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and BYU life. They’re not afraid to get emotional and go raw, discussing the harm the LDS church has caused and continues to cause through personal experiences. LGBTQ+ friendly, forward-thinking, honest, and daring, I am fully entertained and loving every episode.

Thank you for a smile, laughter, and honesty. My son has been asking me about my past Mormon beliefs and practices. I happily referred him to your podcast for more information. 😊

Absolutely Amazing!
A huge thank you to DJB, Lauren and Ashley for helping me through my faith transition with laughter! You have helped me see the absurdity and not focus so much on my anger. I have so really enjoyed the way you break down the topics and I have learned so much. I could never make it through the CES letter (WAY too boring) but you guys have addressed so many of the same topics In a fun way. Love you guys!

One of My Favorites
As an ex-Mormon convert I love love love this series. I have learned so much that no one bothered to teach me while I was in (probably because I have ovaries) and I love being able to learn it now. It helps that the hosts are so funny. DJB is a great storyteller and he presents things in an objective way, with funny comments that don’t automatically ridicule the stories he’s sharing. It’s Mormon history being genuinely retold, which makes Lauren’s reactions even funnier because it illustrates just how insane some of it really is no matter how you spin it. I share this show with all my exmo friends and even those on their way out and those who have never been Mormon but want to learn about it. So...everyone. I share it with basically everyone. The only thing that concerns me is where once I had ambition and dreams to do great things, I now just wish I could get hammered with these guys and talk about my experiences. So much for that college degree...

Never Mormon Here
What a wonderfully informative podcast! I binged the first 50 episodes over the last three weeks after being visited by some missionaries. On their follow up visits, they were in awe of how much I knew about the Book of Mormon and of Joseph Smith’s life(Thanks DJB, Lauren, Ashley, and all the guests). I tried to stay very respectful during their visits, and my husband and I had them for over dinner this weekend. Not sure if they will come back after the tough questions I asked, but I made sure there’s no hard feelings and they are welcome over for dinner anytime. Keep up the good work and know that you are helping people make informed decisions! Much love from Texas <3

My Ex Mormon Gay Self Thanks You🙏🏻
Extremely cathartic listening to this and laughing along with the ridiculousness that was my childhood. I love getting ‘praise to the man’ stuck in my head every time I hear the intro music, and since I left when I was about 17, I’ve learned so much that they just don’t tell the kiddos🤣. Thank you so much for all your effort guys🖤🖤

Hilarious
It’s like drunk history but the Mormon version. These guys are so funny, I have laughed out loud multiple times and I’ve only listened to three episodes. Can’t wait to binge them all!

Horrible podcast
This is another of those podcasts that contains atheistic propaganda. The podcasters are so idiotic and foolish that they only pay attention to the bad things about this great church. I suggest to everyone to stay away from this podcast. Anyone who says it is good are blind.
egagrgegtdmyjynfggd
Keep up the great work!
I left the church a few years ago and I really miss the cheesy movies (The Best Two Years, Church Ball, The Home Teachers and Turn Around are my favorites) There are a million topics within Mormonism that you could delve into, but it would be great to hear an episode on your review of these cringey masterpieces and hear Lauren’s outside view of them. Cheers.

Whoah- crazy stuff!
So I grew up Mormon but stopped attending in my mid twenties. My family is still active, and I’ve pretty much been shunned since I no longer believe. This podcast has been like my own little therapy session. It’s helped me see how I’m not the one with the problem! Seriously- hearing the lessons I was taught in primary as a child being explained to Lauren as an adult makes me see how ludicrous they are! The drunkenness makes it hysterical. I listen to you guys every day and feel like you have become my family!

Finally, a podcast of my peoples!! ❤️
I only recently discovered this podcast, but I fell in love immediately. As a fellow gay, booze lovin’ ex-Mormon from a big Mormon family, I knew that I had found something special. David, Lauren, and Ashley are so fun and keep me laughing with the fun stories and experiences. Lauren’s reactions to the bizarre doctrine and origin stories are only second to my husband’s. The cocktail recipes from each episode have been a glorious adventure on their own! Keep the lessons and laughs coming!! Also... I don’t know if you (David) were ever involved in any of the youth sports activities, but that is a monster topic of discussion in and of itself! It was BRUTAL here in east Texas! So many memories.

Healing Most Profound
There is no limit to the amount of positive things I can say about this show. It is a rare and beautiful thing to share a bond with people you have never met, but DJB and Lauren have let us into their world of honest and raw reactions to the realities of Mormonism and it has helped me heal in ways I didn’t know I needed. Thank you for teaching me and walking me through this journey. Love, another queer ex Mormon❤️

Praise be 🙏🏼
My Post Mo fiancé’s sister turned me onto this gem of a podcast! Growing up in Mesa, AZ in an agnostic family I was definitely the outlier and had little insight of Mormonism. Getting to go along this journey of learning with amazing teachers DJB and designated driver Ashley has been the best! I feel like Lauren and I are soul sisters as we go through the frighting and very peculiar lessons together! Thank you to DJB and Lauren for putting such an entertaining, yet highly educational podcast out there! PS- Becoming a Patreon is money well spent! I’m over the moon with my Drunk Temple Sealing status 😉 PPS- This podcast has really brought my relationship with my ex-mo love to the next level. Being able to understand his frustration, endearment, and overall view of the church has really made more thanks to Drunk Mormon team! 🥂
