Hope for only a short pause
It’s heart breaking to hear such a great podcast not being able to continue its meaningful work because it isn’t sustainable. While shows much lousier and meaningless get to keep producing. I can only hope this is a beginning for more in depth conversations on how we need to fight for societies that enable women to succeed at work without being demanded to prioritize home demands like childcare. I am one who will make sure her sons will one day be men who not only support but ensure equity result in their work whatever they may be.

Perspective
This podcast is incredible! How wrong were those first potential investors that passed on Katherine Goldstein when she pitched it to them. THANK YOU Katherine for following through, going with your gut and bringing this out to the world. Having a second baby has been quite a rough adjustment but when listening to this, it gives me so much perspective and I not only realize I have it pretty good but that I’m not the only one struggling some days 🙌🏻💕 moms and parents- share!

Love their honest take on motherhood and work
No matter how you try, you can’t do it alone and this podcast lets you know you’re not crazy for feeling like that. Women and caregivers get the short end of the stick, and we need to value their (our) work. Katherine and Angela are open and honest on what’s broken in the system, and how that affects them personally. Can’t wait for each episode!

My Hands-down Favorite Podcast
The work the Double Shift is doing is so valuable - from the beginning they have worked to share stories of parenthood in all its forms. I listen because it reflects a reality that I need to know exists, it helps keep hope alive.

Moms, subscribe ASAP
I found this podcast as a first-time, WFH mom to a 2020 baby; I can’t imagine what returning to work would have been like without Katherine’s voice in the background and echoing through my head. Excellent interviews with women all along the journey of motherhood. These conversations lend hope to the future state of working parents and our children.

Thoughtful and visionary perspective
Love how this podcast exposes me to a wide variety of women and their experiences and the thoughtful examination of issues that affect women who are parents. The hosts, Angela and Katherine, provide superb commentary and make the stories flow.

Skip the politics, go back to stories of mothers
I loved the first season because it was stories of mothers and their struggles and situations. I felt connected to them just hearing their stories. This season has devolved into “woe is motherhood” and political stances. Disappointing. I didn’t subscribe to hear yet another political podcast, yet here we are. Story telling and research are good, and hosts are engaging. If they return to the format and mission of the first season, I’ll start listening again.

The Smartest Podcast About Motherhood Out There Right Now
This podcast picks up the conversation where The Longest Shortest Time left off, and is just as well-produced and engaging - perhaps even more incisive and revolutionary. Even though I'm not a mother yet, I get so much out of this podcast. I'm a listener now for life and will continue loving this show for as long as you guys create it. Thanks so much for having these conversations.

SO Powerful
The diversity and all inclusive guests are amazing to listen to!! The back ground story helps us get a great insight on others who live differently than we do. The raw and honesty is such a pleasure!

Much needed
Smart, funny, candid and self-aware, The Double Shift tackles the “invisible” issues that shape the lives of millions of women, men, and fundamentally our society at large.

I’m not even a mom....
.....and I really love this podcast! I’m a physician, and hopefully one day a mom. The “work life balance” myth is so real and scary to me. Can I do it?! Listening to this podcast, I feel like I can! What a great podcast, I’ll be listening to every episode! Currently on episode 6 after finding it just yesterday.

Finally - so relevant
This show makes me feel so not alone. Keep it up.

MUST LISTEN
This isn't just a podcast for mom's; it's a podcast about the real stories of women. I'm not a mom and I love The Double Shift.

Thank you for giving us a voice!
Thank you for creating this podcast to lend a voice to women with important careers who also happen to be Moms! Your content is riveting, thought provoking and eye-opening for this working Mom of two. Keep up the great work!

Excellent content, new perspective, one flaw
I love this concept and the stories are ones I have never heard before. The only thing I struggle with is the host has a slight lisp. Like she has a tongue ring or something. I try not to notice it but it’s hard to get past. I think she could benefit from some voice coaching to make her message even more clear.

Great podcast but where’s the intersectionality?
Love the podcast (especially loved how you covered sex workers). Wonderful journalism and such an important topic to me personally as a working mom. I will consider becoming a member if I see more of a commitment to centering mothers of color. When you talk about a mom’s labor in the home for example, please mention how this differently impacts BIPOC moms compared to white moms.

Thank you to the podcast hostess for persisting
Great podcast. Shared it with my daughter who is a new mom.

Thankful for this perspective
I am hoping to get pregnant in the near future (next 1-2 years), and am so thankful for this perspective. It helps me not feel alone in the fears I’ve have, the hopes I have for great joy, and the constant math revolving around 9 months (if I switch jobs now what does that if I get pregnant in 7 months and give birth in 9 months... and the infinite iterations of that). Thank you for SPEAKING these thoughts and fears that seem embedded into the DNA of women but are not shared about nearly enough.

Critical reporting
I am pregnant for the first time and that hasn’t changed how I feel about my career, my ambitions, and my hopes and dreams for myself. So much of what is directed to pregnant women is about how everything will change and how the baby is going to take front and center, but what about the moms and what happens to them? This podcast makes me feel seen, heard, angry, and motivated to continue my activism in support of moms and parents generally in the United States. Thank you so much for making this podcast.

Great podcast!
I feel like everyone should listen to this! I’m a working mom and it’s so great to hear a podcast focused on the mother’s story, instead of another parenting podcast. It also helped me gain greater perspective on what other moms out there face. I look forward to the episodes every week.

Refreshing
Great podcast showcasing the struggle working mothers face in all sorts of work/career environments.

You get it, like really get it
I sat in my car listening to the third episode this afternoon holding back tears because for the first time in my life someone really, actually got my life...in a podcast. Thanks for getting it and getting it right.

Interesting but hard to relate....
The topics of these podcasts have been really interesting so far, but I am having a trouble relating to them - rabbi musician, political candidate, and sex workers....Looking forward to seeing where the rest of the season goes, though.

Stories that reach beyond
I’m not a mother, but these stories resonate. They are unique, diverse and help me to better understand the experiences of my sisters, colleagues and women friends. Excellent reporting and production. Can’t wait to hear more!

Refreshing tone for 2019
Just binged all available episodes and can’t wait for more! Example of the kind of talk here that I don’t hear elsewhere (paraphrasing), “I was more concerned about the damage it would cause my child if I was depressed about not going down water slides than about any about damage going down the water slide would do to my unborn baby.” Or, a punk rabbi mom whose mission is to give people hope and strength so they can fight political battles? More real talk for 2019!

Can’t wait for the next one!
I really enjoy hearing from a variety of women who are following their passions. Definitely inspiring for me when I think about my future and how I want the career of my dreams and to be a mom.

Not your typical “work-life balance” talk
I'm really enjoying this new podcast, The Double Shift by Katherine Goldstein, and the third episode in particular. Katherine isn't doing the usual stuff on "trying to find balance" - in the 3rd episode, for example, she follows a young mother of 3 who was already a superstar in her education career, and then chose to run as a candidate in the most recent election. Katherine's interview helps us glean great insight into both current-day work-family dilemmas and decisions, what it means to take risks these days and how women are managing these important career risks to match their interests and values.

Fabulous
It’s rare when such an original take on a critical issue surfaces. What is so powerful is the storytelling. I still can’t get over the fact that in many states there are laws that prohibit separation of puppies from their mothers sooner than two months while Moms go back to work in two weeks.

Implicitly Condoning Unsafe Behavior?
Love the concept behind this podcast and episode two was a much needed look at the nighmare that is our current childcare system. Episode 1, however, needed a disclaimer regarding the safety of waterslides for the fetus (and mother) and also exposing a developing fetus to load music, i.e. a . A cursory Google of both

Real stories about Real Women!
Love this podcast. Very refreshing to hear a podcast about REAL working mom life! Thank you from all of us working moms, who want to be seen and recognized for the individuals we are, who have other identities and passions outside of work and kids ❤️

Finally
Yes! At long last, a destination on the pod-dial dedicated to (non diaper-related), rich and real stories about those multidimensional people called “mom.” Gimme more!

Love this podcast!
This is exactly the type of podcast that has been missing - thoughtful reporting and storytelling about the experiences of working moms. Thank you Katherine!

Excited for more!
You don’t have to be a mom to enjoy the stories as anyone can walk away with some insight into motherhood. Loved that we get to hear from moms doing the unconventional (or what society things as unconventional) as they raise a family. I’m looking forward to more powerful stories.

Thank you for this
I’m so excited for this podcast. Katherine articulates SO WELL the issues I have with being a working mother in 2019. I feel like we need a revolution to get people to understand that technology has changed the way we work and that motherhood changes workers, and I think this podcast will shed light on the stories that prove that. Can’t wait to hear more.
gooddayhoward
exactly what I need to hear as a working mom
This podcast is music to my working mom ears. I always say there is no mold, and I definitely don’t fit in the classic working mom camp. I’m Looking forward to this podcast to exploring how hard it is to be a working person, a parent, and the path to discovery of ourselves after we have children.

Fresh and fun
The Double Shift looks for fresh perspectives on being a mother in America, and certainly found one in its first guest: a punk rocker who's a devout Jew and considering rabbinical studies. Her grappling with "doing okay but not great" financially with one passion, and potentially shifting gears, will resonate whether or not you're a mother.
