The Dormick Park Podcast Show
Dormick Park Elementary
Welcome to the Dormick Park Podcast Show. Over the last several years, we have featured exciting new guests and have trained several new podcast hosts and production technicians who have recorded, edited and produced the show. This show is a great way to get to know the Dormick Family a bit better and help build our community.
Episode 84: Be Responsible
On Today's episode, we will be talking about Being Responsible. Being responsible means taking care of our duties and making good choices. It's about being dependable and doing what we are supposed to do, even when no one is watching. We can practice responsibility by completing our schoolwork on time, taking care of our belongings, and following rules. It also means being honest and owning up to our actions. When we are responsible, we show others that they can count on us, and it helps us be successful and feel proud of ourselves. Today, we have our school's clerical, Ms Lisa Paré on our show to share how she practices responsibility.

Episode 83: Be Respectful
On today's episode, we will be talking about Being Respectful. Being respectful means treating others the way we want to be treated, with kindness and understanding. It's about listening when someone speaks, being polite and showing care for others' feelings. We can practice respect by saying "please" and "Thank You," helping our classmates, and using kind words. We should also remember to be patient and not interrupt when someone else is talking. Respect helps everyone feel valued and creates a friendly, positive environment for all. To we have Ms Thompson on our show to unpack this a bit.

Episode 82: Safety!
On today’s episode, we will be talking with Dormick Park's one and only, "Safety Man" about being Safe. Safety means keeping ourselves and others safe from getting hurt or in trouble. It's important to pay attention to what’s around us and make smart choices to stay safe. Some ways to practice safety every day are by always wearing a seatbelt in the car, walking on the sidewalk, not talking to strangers, and looking both ways before crossing the street. At home, we can help by turning off the stove when we’re done, not running near sharp objects, and always telling an adult where we’re going. By following these simple safety tips, we can help keep ourselves and everyone around us safe!

Episode 81: Kindness
We are changing directions a little bit with the podcast show by featuring a 4-part episode featuring our school values: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Respectful, & Be Responsible. These episodes will be a bit shorter and will feature some Dormick Park staff as they share some personal stories of how these values have impacted their lives. As well, we will offer some helpful tips and reminders on how we can show these values to others each day. On today’s episode, we will be talking about Kindness. Kindness is the act of being considerate, caring, and compassionate toward others without expecting anything in return. It's about showing empathy and being generous with your time, words, and actions. For example, holding the door open for someone, complimenting a friend when they’re feeling down, or helping a neighbour carry groceries are simple yet powerful ways to practice kindness. Each day, you can practice kindness by offering a smile to a stranger, actively listening when someone talks to you, or volunteering your time for a cause you care about. Small gestures like these can brighten someone’s day and create a ripple effect of positivity.

Episode 80: Jump Rope For Heart
On today’s episode, we shift gears a bit to highlight Jump Rope for Heart, which is an exciting event that our school has been taking part in for several years. Jump Rope for Heart is a fun, educational event organized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation to raise awareness about heart health and fundraise for heart disease research. Children participate by jumping rope and learning about the importance of staying active and eating healthy. Families can get involved by encouraging their kids to join the event at school, collecting pledges from friends and family online. It's a great way to support a good cause while promoting physical activity and heart health for the whole family.
