Champagne and Lost Whiskey: Opposites do Attract
Mark Turner is an architect, businessman, father and spouse. He owns a distillery, loves wide open spaces and silently mulls the world as he sees it. He is a Wyoming cowboy and appreciates natural beauty. He is a sensitive man’s man. Toni Ford is an oceanographer, entrepreneur, mother and spouse. She writes and creates reminiscence theatre productions. She is a Philly Girl and is as at home with tiny tots as she is with corporate execs. She gets right to the point and smiles while doing so. The idea of telling stories on a mobile porch and the desire to build that porch to make it happen is what brought these two opposites together. Project focus, candor, and mutual respect was responsible for these two people becoming real friends beyond all expectations. Black Lives Matter and the tensions of 2020 were the reasons they both wanted to talk with each other. Black woman and white man, geographically, culturally, ethnically and age-wise as different as day and night. But mutual respect brought them to this circle of confidence. Toni Ford and Mark Turner are Champagne and Lost Whiskey. Their conversation is a true example of what happens when we try to understand.
