Deconstructing Dating Culture
Dating culture stopped me from showing others the whole me. In it was this need to be likeable enough and in order to be likeable I had to suppress the harder to love parts. It lacked authenticity, and didn't give me the space to fully accept who I was nor did it let me just love someone for who they were. In this episode we deconstruct how some of the rules around dating culture breed the environment for unauthentic connection.

The reality of being a single woman in a religious environment
My singleness always felt like a problem needing to be fixed. At the same time I constantly felt powerless to changing it because it was the man's role to initiate. I didn't realize how much my environment was constantly reinforcing this idea of my singleness as a problem by over romanticizing and the role of marriage. The problem wasn't my singleness it was the reality of not being deemed worthy of attention, love, respect, responsibility, or even value because of what I didn't have... a wedding ring.  These natural things I desired meant I had to put my life dreams aside and focus on coupling up before I hit the age that was a wasteland to coupling up being in an institution out numbered 3 women to 1 man. This is the reality of being single. This is my story.

Deeming "culturally unhealthy" bodies or "overweight" bodies as lacking discipline and unspiritual? What does that do to your soul, and image of the world. Let's dig into Body Image.

Deconstructing the way we use the bible
Is it really the end all be all book? or  Have we placed too much power in the past narrative of God that we forget that the bible is written in the past. The power of God isn't in the past and to understand that we need to understand power of presence with this moment. We forget we are the living stories of the book so we don't need to dive deeper into it but can live fuller lives in the present moment.

Deconstructing am I deserving of hell?
Does anyone really deserve eternal damnation?  My initial reaction is no, but my fundamentalist evangelical side wants to argue to defend God's sovereignty and image. In this episode of the dig we dissect the belief of hell and offer up new ideas that can help free the way we live out our souls purpose to be true. We discuss the difference between to know on a logo (logical) thinking, and to know on a soul level to be true and how that impacts what we really know of the bible and it's teachings through modern religion.  If you enjoy this episode let us know on instagram @thedigwithdeb or check out the digpodcast.com
