Lewis explains abstruse, important concepts in clear easy to understand language. These are quite complex ideas but he uses humor and great production values to make sure we all get it. He’s a national treasure!

I’ve really enjoyed this show! The host, Jeffrey Lewis, is insightful and funny. He’s able to communicate complicated diplomatic conundrums through entertaining and compelling stories. Highly recommend!

Their opinions are informed by politicians who care only about the political “winners and losers.” This podcast presents a clear-eyed view of the non-political reality. This podcast detailed the intricacies of the Iran nuclear deal in an exciting and suspenseful manner. The interviews with people who were involved in creating the deal were incredible.

I’ve been listening to the Arms Control Wonk podcast for a while now, so I was excited to listen to this miniseries. It did not disappoint, and I am grateful for the excellent depictions of the politicking and power plays. I’m writing this the day after someone has assassinated yet another Iranian nuclear scientist, this time Mr Mohsen Fakhrizade. This series is making connections for me that, now upon hearing news of that assassination, cause me to feel distress. Excellent series 5/5

Especially after listening to the whole series, the final episode is particularly sobering. A great reminder of why we’re in this field: what the stakes are, why it matters, and the kind of work we’re trying to create.

The story of the Iran deal would seem dull—technical negotiations abt uranium enrichment, centrifuges and isotopes. 😴 But Jeffrey Lewis brings us great stories about the players, the politics and dealmaking in an accessible way. And love the role of women experts, too!

This is a really fascinating story. As someone who is interested in international relations and nuclear nonproliferation but who doesn’t have much specific knowledge about these issues, I found this very accessible and exciting to listen to.

Dr. Jeffrey Lewis doesn’t disappoint. Thanks for the great content.

Not sure if this was intentional but The Deal is largely told through the perspective of the female diplomats, analysts and experts involved in decades of research & diplomacy. I’m a longtime follower of Jeffrey Lewis’ work and this podcast is as good as you would expect.
