My guest on the show today is Mark Valenti from Cleveland , Ohio. Mark is a former professional Highland Games athlete and qualified for the national championships five times. He is Former member of the World Team Champions and was also a world record holder. On top of this Mark was a Master Strongman competitor and three times National qualifier
He is now the owner of Blind Dog Gym in Vermilion, Ohio and the host of the Refined Savage Podcast.
Today Mark and I discuss a variety of topics related to fatherhood after kicking off our conversation with a shout out to Terence Mitchell and his incredible legacy.
We then delve into how much is enough and when to draw the line, who to have in your circle and how big names dont necessarily big positive impact
We then discuss working on ourselves to serve others and not just our fragile egos and how working out, eating healthy and setting up routines play a big role in this.
A big focus is on the importance on finding what you value and what you truly love and doing what works for you and your family.

Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.

This is a bit of a messy one and Tom seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed as the crew wind through a couple of interesting and controversial topics like the US election, the latest coronavirus lockdowns, the way fatherhood can and should change our approach to life and how to handle changing seasons around the globe. It's a bit of a messy one...but hey seems to reflect the times!

Instead of posting the next interview I did, and the fatherhood international podcast I have chosen to rebroadcast the two shows I did with Terence. Terence Mitchell was all about bettering himself for the sake of service to others. In life and in death he is an inspiration to so many men across the globe, and I was fortunate enough to have two outstanding conversations with him. I find his words, deeds and approach to life are having an even greater impact now than before his unexpected passing. Terence thank you for the legacy you left, being so present in our thoughts and firing us up to be the best version of ourselves! Much love brother.

“You are living as if destined to live forever; your own frailty never occurs to you; you don't notice how much time has already passed, but squander it as though you had a full and overflowing supply - though all the while that very day which you are devoting to somebody or something may be your last. You act like mortals in all that you fear, and like immortals in all that you desire.” - Seneca

This week we received the terrible news that a great leader and our brother Terence Mitchell passed away.
I decided that I would rerelease the podcasts that I did with him. This is in fact the most listened episode of The dad Strong Podcast.
But I believe that it is such a great conversation and Terence provided so much wisdom and passion during the podcast, that we can all listen to it over and over again.
Thinking of you Terence. You were truly an exceptional person. Thank you for your contribution to all of our lives!

Today I am fortunate to welcome the founder of Strong Black Fathers, Danny Offei on the podcast. Danny is the father of a beautiful young daughter who he is determined to raise in a way that allows her to make a positive impact on the world. He is also committed to continuing to change the narrative that has been perpetuated about black fathers, and is excited by the progress he sees happening in this regard as well as the positive image being created concerning fatherhood, in general.
It is really great to sit down with a fellow father, and once again see, that in spite of superficial differences we have a great deal in common.
Enjoy this fantastic conversation!

“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.” - Seneca
Be careful about what you perceive or are lead to believe is a success.
Show me your private jet, a fleet of sports cars or millions in net worth and I'll show you a million minutes you haven't been there for and with your family, experiences that could have been shared and moments that would have added far more to your contentment.
Why is an overseas holiday flying business class any more meaningful or special or memorable than a road trip camping?
It is isn't!

Today Anthony, Leroy and Tom discuss keeping the reasons for you making changes in mind, becoming more prepared for uncertainty and adversity and learning to lead yourself instead of needing to follow other people to get yourself together and be the father and husband you are capable of being.
