Biased but passionate
I was excited to try this podcast in the new year but what I found was a biased (but passionate) rant. After finding podcast and host on social media platforms I expected more of a following from a “Digital Media Strategist”. While Kathryn seems intelligent and knowledgeable I wish she’d focus her energy differently. If you are looking for a very conservative biased view of oil and gas peppered with real information this is your podcast, if not don’t waste your time.

Great Podcast!
Hello,
I had the pleasure of finding out about this show at the DPC Energy Industry Happy Hour. I have just graduated from CU with degrees in petroleum geology and economics. I recently started working for EOG in Denver and listen to the podcasts on my way to work (I live in Boulder). Great and informative news, good speakers and even better content. Keep it up!

Love what you are doing
Hard not to love Kathryn’s energy, the way she engages in the community to get the word out and brings the real issues to the surface. Was thrilled to get a chance to be on the show and somehow she got me not to swear (mostly...). DRW

RTA, SWCTT, Graves
I really enjoyed hearing Dr. Ozkan discuss the future of the industry as well as the importance of the basics of RTA. It was interesting to learn how long it takes to integrate a new technology into the industry.
The podcast with Charlie Carlisle was very interesting. It was amazing to hear how simple the chemicals are and hear the test broken down and explained in much greater detail then anywhere else I’ve read. He makes everything easy to understand and is interesting to listen to.
It was fun to hear Dr. Graves tell her story. Amazing to hear about her story here at mines as well in the industry. Interesting to hear all that she overcame to be an amazing force in the industry.

Having more info about chemical tracers with Charlie Charlisle made me realize much more about the things that been discussed in class. Since I’m interested in Reservoir Engineering, learning more about chemical tracers would certainly help me in my future. The other podcast I listened to was the completions and evaluating the secret sauce. I enjoyed Dr. Miskimins stories about how she got enrolled in the petroleum Industry. The podcast was interesting, she talked about how the industry evolved with time and the next big thing in completions which was fascinating. One thing that shocked me was the fact that she said that she did more economics and business than engineering in the field.
Thank you.

Charlie Charlisle and Matt Bauer
I really enjoyed just how detailed the Charlie Charlie podcast was, and how it highlighted the switch from radioactive tracers to chemical tracers, along with the various applications and personal experiences with these. Very thought provoking.
I enjoyed Matt Bauer and the discussion about data analytics. As someone who is working in data analytics, I want to understand how the industry evolves towards using it more and more and discussion about machine learning and it’s integration.
When it comes to the the overall back to basics, having Dr. Ozkan discuss his experiences and what he has done for the industry is fantastic, however I found myself getting bored at times due to the length, but nevertheless very interesting!

Crude Audacity Podcast Review
The podcasts provide further detail into concepts that were unable to be given in class. It also provided the opportunity to hear information from other sources which can help the learning process. Both podcasts I listened to were fun and entertaining and easy to listen to while still being thought provoking.

Charlie Carlisle + Dr. Miskimins (Loulwah Mohammed)
I learned a lot from Carlisle’s episode, it was great. I liked how Charlie talked about uncertainty and how the industry minimizes it which is interesting.
I also enjoyed Dr. Miskimins episode, she is one of the greatest mentors I’ve had in my life. She has a lot of knowledge and great experience and so much to learn from her. She talks about the industry and how it evolves throughout the years and how horizontal wells are what’s hot right now. I can’t wait to take her stimulation class next semester.

Reviews Parts 1 & 2
1 - I enjoyed how the interview delved into what he expected coming into the industry and how those expectations changed overtime. Refreshing to hear that you can work anything out no matter the price of oil, even if you might not be making as much as you’d like. Excited for the future and to make a podcast of my own. Thank you for the inspiration!
2 - The Charlie Carlisle episode expanded nicely on the single SWCTT material we have covered in class. I was initially confused on the difference between partitioning and non partitioning so this episode cleared up a lot of muddiness. I also listened to Dr. Miskimins speak on completions and had no idea what cryogenic fracs were until I listened to this episode. Love obtaining niche knowledge

Age of Consolidation Podcast
Very interesting to hear David did some M&A for his dad!
I would love to hear you talk to more people (and more in depth) about the shortened life of shale plays due to our ignorance of science.

Charlie Carlisle and Matt Bauer
Charlie Carlisle’s podcast was great. The talk about unconventional and how EOR can be applied to not only conventional but now being implemented in the unconventional realm. It surprised be when Charlie talked about uncertainty and this brought up more interest in EOR and how we minimize that uncertainty in the field, and what we can do before even getting to the field. I like hearing the personal experiences from these people in your podcasts. It brings it all into real life and helps to visualize how the things we are learning in school will later effect or careers.
I also really liked Matt Bauer’s podcast talking all about data analytics. This is something that Elio has stressed a lot to us: Big Data. The world we live in is growing and becoming more intelligent with online capabilities. Machine learning and artificial intelligence is something that is really interesting to me, especially in the oil and gas industry and where it is going to go in the next ten years. Data analytics is a cool concept with being able to analyze large data sets and find trends and patterns within it, to further develop and explore areas of fields.

Charlie Carlisle and Elio Dean’s Interview
Charlie’s Episode Review:-
I would like to thank you for inviting Charlie to your lovely podcast and thank him for clarifying some misconceptions I had about Chemical Tracers. Overall, great episode 5/5 👍🏻 👍🏻.
Elio’s Episode Review:-
I am glad that Elio did not major in geology because that’s the most boring path to be in tbh. I am also glad that he stuck to engineering and got be our instructor for a whole academic year. It is fun to listen to his stories again through this podcast episode.

Well testing Dr.Miskimins and Charlie Carlisle
I can’t wait to have Dr. Miskimins in her stimulation class. She always knows what she is talking about and have so much experience and so much to learn from. This experience showed up as she was talking about how people used to do completion and how the industry in the US changed to the point that people no longer drill vertical wells. I liked this part of the podcast.
I like how a good mentor can make it worth it to follow the mentor around like how Charlie ended in Wyoming. Moreover, all the talking he did reminded me of Elio says in class. How unconventional are way different the conventional and how EOR is going be applied to unconventional. Also, I was surprised when he said that we always have uncertainty with tracers. It made me feel like any EOR project can fail. Please more about EOR.
Great podcasts, please keep them coming!

Big data and ML - Abdulaziz Alalyani
I have been always interested in analyzing data and knowing what it represents. This is why I enrolled in the Petroleum Data Analytics minor provided at Colorado School of Mines. Data analytics is a very big topic that, nowadays, people are paying attention to. There is a lot of data in the oil and gas industry. The major thing is to analyze the data and understand the physics behind it to have a better understanding on how fluids under the ground behave under certain conditions. The podcast greatly added to my simple knowledge in ML and data analysis.

Big data (M Alshaikhli)
This is a very enjoyable podcast. As the oil and gas industry is one of the industries where engineers are responsible to collect a lot of data and analyze them, this podcast is very helpful as it teaches how engineers are supposed to learn data analysis and how important it is in the industry to understand the concept of these data and how they actually effect the operation.

Value of a good mentor: Charlie Carlisle
I was confuse at first, since the title is value of a good mentor but all he talked about was technical stuff like tracers. But as I continue with the podcast, I understand why the title says that. I really like his story of talking to the supervisor on the first day, it taught me the importance of networking. Overall it was a good pod cast, worth the listening time.

Charile Carlisle and Dan Haley Episodes
First, the episode with Charlie was very insightful into how SWCTTs are performed and how they have evolved since their early days. The episode with Dan was also a veryintriguing look into where oil and gas is headed in Colorado. Both episodes were super informative, and I learned a lot from listening!

The value of a good mentor / Charlie Carlisle & The Secret Sauce / Dr.Miskimins
I liked how Charlie explained chemical traces in a very simple way yet very detailed. It is very helpful to listen to those people who already have experience in the field and take advices from them. I also liked how he explained why they switched from radioactive traces to chemical traces and how simple and can be found in houses.
// Dr.Miskimins The Secret Sauce
I liked how Dr.Miskimins talked about how important it is to understand *The Rock* basically the geology which effects everything we do while producing hydrocarbons. I also liked how the podcast mentions different type of fracking and how Dr.Miskimins talked about each one.

What The Frac
It’s great to get some insight on how change in technologies or strategies come about in the oil and gas industry and how economics and time play are key factors in the acceptance of new ideas. It puts things in perspective for me to learn that the petroleum industry is evolutionary as opposed to revolutionary.

Awesome Interviews!
I really liked the episode with Charlie Carlisle. Through his personal stories I now have a better understanding of the importance of a mentor. Other than that, the episode is also filled with industry related info and it is very technical. I was really surprised to hear him talk about SWCT which I also learned in my well testing class. I also listened to WHAT THE FRAC w/ Dr. Bob. That was so fun! Dr. Bob surprised me that he just remembers so many things such as technical equations (especially compare to that of my potato head memories :(( ) and he wrote papers with Dr. Miskimins? Haha. Again, awesome technical info, really helpful for me to better organize knowledge I learned in classes. Also, Kathryn is great as always, always providing some great additional info about the industry and ask questions in technical aspects! So helpful, keep it going Kathryn you are changing our lives! Thank you 3000!

Age of Consolidation and Value of Good Mentor
Charlie Carlisle made some good comments on the basic measurements of characterizing the reservoirs which would require good mentors to educate the next generation of engineers. I think it sets a good platform for future challenges as we need to have a firm grasp of the already basic and essential fundamentals as well as some creativity and innovation to tackle future challenges. Dr. David Ramsden-Wood mentioned some interesting comments regarding shale play and how some view it as a ponzi scheme. Gaining insight on the economical aspects as well as getting an education on the financial side is really helpful.

Valuable Podcasts
Dr. Ozkan is a very knowledgeable and credible person who is capable of presenting technical matter in an understandable and attainable way. It is very interesting hearing about his journey through the oil and gas industry. His hard work and expertise is extremely respectable. I really liked his discussion of being able to use technology/software to keep up with the industry and stay relevant, but also understanding the fundamentals and theories behind the technology. Kathryn made a good comment about this saying "you have to understand the engine and know how to drive the car." I think that is very valuable advice entering into the industry, and something to keep in mind as technology continues to advance.
The Charlie Carlisle podcast was very informative on SWCTT. He did a great job explaining the fundamentals of these tests as well as the function of partitioning and non-partitioning tracers. It was also very interesting hearing about conventionals vs unconventionals and how he believes in the future we will not be targeting source rocks as much but recovering easy oil that has been bypassed.
The podcast with Dr. Miskimins was really interesting to listen to. She is such a respectable person in oil and gas and it was great to hear how she started out on top of her many accomplishments in the industry. She does an awesome job making complex ideas and concepts understandable. I really liked hearing her talk about the use of cryogenic fluids in fracturing.

Charlie Carlisle & Cat Campbell Podcasts
I listened to both of these podcasts, and I enjoyed both!
Knowing more about chemical tracers from Mr. Carlisle made me more interested to know more about how to choose them based on the reservoir's conditions and formations. But what I liked the most about this podcast is how Mr. Carlisle emphasized the importance of asking questions and learning more to broaden our perspectives and guarantee that we will have more chances of getting jobs in the future.
The other podcast I listened to was the Evolution of Geo-sciences in the Oilfield. As a geologist who is planning to work in the oil industry when I graduate, I found what she said about the industry very helpful. Hopefully, in the future, I will put what she said in mind and try to work as hard as I can become a better geologist and benefit from the experience of the engineers that I am going to work with!
