What a tremendous resource
I am a seasoned nurse who recently changed from working at a Level 3 obstetrical unit with a wonderful NICU down the hall, in a metropolitan facility for 19+ years, with extensive resources, to a Level 1, rural facility with severely restricted resources- yet I find myself caring for such a wide range of high risk patients who present to us due to the 2+ hour travel requirement to go to a higher level of care, plus their premature and/or sick newborns (until a transport team can arrive). Such a huge change in responsibilities, staff and ancillary services- I have had to completely change my nursing approach- there are no in-house doctors or residents to call on immediately to perform initial assessments for anything outside of normal labor. Listening to your podcasts have helped me to consider how to adapt my practices. You have also inspired me to work with my manager to develop check-lists to improve high reliability performance around common and uncommon OB emergencies. Thank you so much.

I am giddy!
I am SO GLAD you are back!! I learned SO MUCH from your previous episodes and love the way you explain what is happening and why we are doing what we are doing. Thank you for empowering medical teams (especially nurses!) with vital information to care for our special population of parents!

Welcome back!!!
I am so excited! I have learned so much from previous podcast before in 2021. I was so pleasantly surprised when I check my library and there were several podcasts from this year I have to listen too. I precept in labor and delivery and this always challenges my learning and also helps my practice and my ability to articulate pathophysiology to the leadership students and new hires I work with. Thank you.

Great way to continue to learn
I love this podcast for learning about OB topics. I’m a new L&D nurse and I feel like it’s a fun way to take advantage of my drive to work. I get to drive into OB-related complications. I hopefully won’t see many of these diagnoses at work but it’s still a great resource to learn about what to look for in my patient population. Thanks for putting this podcast together!

Inaccurate Information
Great topics but some inaccurate information. ASE guidelines lists Severe mitral stenosis is a valve area less than 1 cm^2 with a mean gradient >10mmHg. Moderate is 1.0-1.5 cm^2 with a mean gradient 5-10 mmHg. The podcast lists the cutoff for severe mitral stenosis as a valve area of 1.5 cm^2 - please update your podcast as this can mislead healthcare providers to grade the MS worse than it is.

Great!
Thank you for your podcast. It’s such a great refresher for core OB concepts. Can you do a podcast on amniotic fluid embolisms?

Excellent podcasts
Dr Stephanie Martin is an excellent host, teacher, master clinician and critical care obstetrician and a MFM leader!! These short podcasts are a simple version of the complicated maternal topics. I truly enjoy listening to Dr Martin’s podcasts during my drive time! Highly recommended to practicing OBGYNs and MFMs!

Critical care obstetrics
Thank you for highlighting many of the challenges in caring for critically ill obstetric patients. Seems as though location of care varies according to facility, skill level, resources and culture. In my hospital (mid-size teaching hospital) we utilize a collaborative model of care with obstetrics and often ICU/Main OR staff. Location of care decisions are made based on patient acuity. Looking forward to listening to future episodes! -Jeanette Zocco MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM
