The inaugural event, Women of Coast, launched on April 26 to honor six incredible women. Every day this week, Sam sits down with one of the Women of Coast honorees for a short interview highlighting their achievements and journeys.Today's guest is Jennifer Friend, President and CEO of Project Hope Alliance. The nonprofit works to short-circuit the cycle that keeps people in a hopeless situation, with housing and education programs aimed at the more than 28,000 homeless children attending Orange County schools.Through much of her school years, she and her three brothers were among Anaheim’s “motel kids,” children who live in motels because their parents don’t have enough reliable income to secure permanent housing. Friend found stability in school and excelled, going on to attain her law degree from UC Irvine, eventually becoming partner at age 35 in a law firm as a high-powered litigator before taking the reins at Project Hope Alliance.
