**Podcast Description**
Clay and Shaun Yurtkuran go full free-range on whether gay jokes are still allowed, if it’s okay to call your buddy gay when he isn’t, and whether “retard” is still fair game for adults. It starts with JD Vance’s line about not being James Talarico and the predictable meltdown that followed. Shaun (Gen X) is unbothered. Clay has never stopped making the jokes. They both point out that the same people clutching pearls over Vance had no problem with years of Trump-is-gay couch jokes, Lindsey Graham bits, and South Park’s Big Gay Al.
The conversation keeps going. Men make fun of other men. It’s a machismo thing. The second you ban it, it gets turned up to eleven. They dig into the double standard that says you can’t joke about certain protected groups, but everything else is open season — until a conservative might be gay, then it’s reeducation time. Shaun and Clay also separate actual gay people from the trans agenda, with Clay arguing that “you’re just a man that cut his weenie off” is still accurate and that pride events don’t need to be kid-friendly. They touch on the old right’s anti-gay reputation versus the new right, antisemitism from both sides, and why Gen X could survive the nineties without losing their minds over a joke.
It’s the kind of conversation the show gets accused of being afraid to have. They’re not.
