Yikes
This podcast is not for you if you work in the industry and want meaningful, reasonably deep conversations. These guys are hard to listen to. I don’t know why they called this “the cinematography podcast” when neither of them are cinematographers or even have a reasonable knowledge of the craft to begin with. If you want to listen to two dudes talk about random current events for 15 minutes before bringing the guest in, go for it. The interviews have basically no depth and sometimes don’t go much past “how did this project come to you” or “how did you get started in the industry”. There are many better cinematography podcasts out there if you want to actually learn something, like Cinemapodgrapher or Cinematographers on the Loose.

Great insights!
I’m not in the industry at all. Just a movie dork and love all aspects especially how movies “look.” Anyway, always interesting guests and love when they get “inside baseball” about the creative process, lenses, and the rants! Thanks guys

Couldn’t get past the unnecessary banter.
I thought I was going to learn more about cinematography, instead I had to sit through a conversation about show business in general with at least one person that had no idea what he was talking about. (e.g., Netflix just lost 20 million subscribers!) Then anti-elonmusk stuff, etc. Since this guy knows very little about his chosen field, show business, it was hard to listen to his politics. At that point I was done. I didn’t make it to the guest. Sorry.

a+ info
as a young, aspiring filmmaker (cringe) this is such a useful podcast, full of wonderful information, insight, and personality! the hosts are great at asking questions that illicit useful answers for the listeners, and I always finish a listen feeling inspired and motivated to keep grinding and make something of my own.

The Bee's Knees
A great companion to the experience of working as an AC or Cam Op for a seasoned DP. On set, you mostly get to observe their physical approach to the craft with possibly a little insight into their thought process. This podcast is great because it gives you the other side of that coin: emphasizing the decision making and problem solving that are just as (if not more) important than the physical execution of the craft itself.

Love the production info!
I've been looking all over for a podcast that actually talks about real, applicable production advice. I love hearing about the real ways cinematographers got to where they are, and how they deal with problems. Thank you for this!

Great great great podcast. Cinematography is something I've always been into but trying to get into it late in my mid 20s. This podcast helps my confidence a lot. Thank you - Khairy Jenkins

Great interviews of the greats.
Just listened to the Carpenter interview, which was fascinating. As a side note, I wondered to myself about the connection between director and animals: Woo and doves; Leone and dogs.

Easy to get lost
I love the cinematography podcast, it’s probably the most interesting thing I listen too. That being said, I often get so inspired by the interviews that I find myself drifting off into my own ideas of films I can make, often missing half of the interview and Needing to rewind!

Great insight
A really enjoyable trip with some awesome DPs. I enjoy getting to hear how they get started, and how they e developed their process.

A staple!
This podcast is hands down the best podcast for any DP to listen to if they enjoy hearing first hand from the pros who have paved the way before them. I’ve gained so much perspective and the hosts are truly engaging.

Such good info
Hey! I've been tuning in for the last year and it's always a great day when you release a new episode! I've learned a ton of relevant info and have been blown away by the stories of how all these DPs made it to where they are. However more recently Ben has been interviewing people less and less. I know he has a baby (swear jar). No offense it Illia, Ben is better at interviewing. He goes more in depth and seems less in a hurry to wrap things up. Ben please please interview more! I wouldn't mind waiting longer in between episodes if it means that the interview is longer and higher quality. If its not possible, maybe you could do a longer listener question section? Or have a bunch of pre-written questions ready to go so we get more info from your guests. Nothing personal, i FIng love this podcast and will continue to listen forever.

Educational and Inspirational for a Young DP
Love this podcast. As a young(ish) DP, this podcast has been delightful to listen to, is incredibly informative in both tech news and industry ins/outs, and inspirational in their discussions with great DPs. *One suggestion Ilya/Ben the video podcasts don’t work great. But I would happily follow an Instagram account or YouTube channel for content like that ;)

Very Informative!!!
This Podcast is a really great resource for anyone in the film industry or thinking about trying to get in. I wish there was something like this out when I was younger!

Motivating
Podcasts have almost replaced listening to music in the car and while exercising. I’ve been studying cinematography for a little while and listening to the pros talk about their experiences is one of the coolest things to hear. Each one has walked in my shoes before and I love hearing that they too once struggled. A BIG thank you to these guys for putting together the podcast for those of us who love listening and learning all we can about the craft. You guys rock!!

Also Good for Amateurs
Thank you for the Cinematography Podcast. I am an amateur cinematographer, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I find it especially insightful to hear about the real experience of your guests on specific projects.

Real Professional Podcast!
I’m a commercial producer and got curious and listened to the Frazer Bradshaw interview after seeing it floating around on a link on Facebook. This is a real professional podcast. Ben Rock is a director by trade but he’s def got the interview process down. After listening to Bradshaw share his insights, no surprise he’s had a few projects make it to Sundance.

Very promising
What an incredible podcast. It is so refreshing to hear about the theory and aesthetics of shooting, framing, lighting etc without getting to mired in tech talk (although I enjoy that as well.) If future shows are half as good as this one, this will be a fantastic show! Keep it up.

You don't have to know how to operate a Canon 7D to enjoy it.
A good conversation is one that can be listened to and/or joined by anyone with a reasonable level of intelligence. Whether you are a Film and Video professional, or just someone interested in the Cinematic creative process, you will enjoy this podcast. It stays away from the technical end of the process and has plenty of on set stories that can be understood, whether you work in the entertainment industry or not (And if you still don't know what a Gaffer or Best Boy is, Google and Bing are your friends). Recommended.

The Anatomy of Production
Although the title suggests a focus on the Cinematographer, this podcast is really a great resource for anyone who wants to know the ins and outs of production on just about every level. The lessons of how to work within a production unit and different personality types you will find there are invaluable. I would recommend this podcast for anyone wanting to get a project done or just simply looking for a way into the business of show business.
