Just finished Lawerence of Arabia and Ben hur, both incredible breakdowns in multiple episodes. Brings me back to my youth!!!

Very knowledgeable and insightful podcast, but I didn’t come here for your political POV. Does our current political environment really impact The Godfather part 2 or A few good men? This goes for whatever side you’re on.

Started listening a couple of years ago and you guys are just fantastic. The vibe between you & all the rest. Sometimes maybe a bit too in the weeds for me personally but really great. FWIW, I am the natural son of Joe Lamotta, played by Pesce in Raging Bull. Never knew him as he left my mother before I was born and I was adopted when my mother got married. I’ve seen all of the Godfather I and II you did. Braveheart. Gladiator. Those are probably my top 4 movies of all time. Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction. No country for old men. Goodfellas. And many others. I’m surprised to find you have nothing that I can find on Lord of the Rings. I just started watching it (normally not my speed but enjoying it to be sure). 17 Oscars after all! I’m stuck listening to others who I don’t like as much as you two. Am I missing them somehow? I’m 67, a criminal defense lawyer in NYC NY, married and live in Garden City NY. Keep up the great work. You guys are excellent & as a criminal lawyer who has a lot of drug and gun clients I have to say your presentation is excellent. Better than excellent. Basing this review solely on the heat 1 and 2 episodes. I saw this movie in the theater and it has been my #1 movie since. I’ve listens to a few podcasts on it. Some good and some not good at all. It was such a great experience to listen to you get all the facts straight and of have to yell out corrections. I also learned a couple things and thoroughly loved listening. Thank you.

Entertaining, but one of the hosts is the biggest snowflake ever.

Truly one of the best movie review podcasts out there! The deep dive on Scarface is University level exploration/ analysis! Love all the insider-baseball knowledge they drop throughout a program. Bravo gentlemen, keep up the good work!!

In general, I like the movies these guys watch and their conversations about them. Classic films and plenty of popular films. I think they have a good and entertaining balance of behind-the-scenes, moviemaking insight, and personal experience reflection on these movies. However, I just noticed how male-centric their movie choices and conversations are. Very noticeable that they haven’t yet done a Diane Keaton tribute after her passing and she was a giant in the industry. I mean c’mon- had a George Foreman tribute show but not Diane Keaton?!

Hosts are self-important and pretentious. I thought I was going to hear about behind-the-scenes information, but too many of their comments pertain to their own lives, which no one cares about.

Love this podcast. Steve and John do a great job celebrating cinema. Cover “Red Dawn” since “One Battle After Another” seems greatly inspired by it!

I’v been listening to John and Steve for years, and while the guys and I do have some differences, they have a wonderful way of analyzing and discussing movies. I really enjoy their deep dives, Season of…, and occasional tangents. Really one of my favorite podcasts.

I have listened to many episodes of this podcast, and I always get something out of it. They go into a lot of depth on each movie, bringing in their viewpoints as well as a lot of information about the making of the film, etc. thank you Steve and John for all the insights. I've been listening to this for a couple years, starting at the beginning and working my way through it in chronological order. There's so much wonderful insight into the themes of the movies, how movies are made, and that intersection between artist, art, and viewer. One of my all-time favorite podcasts!

These guys are box office! I’m a Guatemalan living in Salzburg and I don’t get to go to the pictures and jibjab with friends often, so the cine-file cats always help me unpack a movie.

Great show that combines production insights from two hosts who have real experience in film and the industry with critical commentary. Search for your favorite film and they have probably covered it. If not then it’s something to look forward to.

These guys know a lot about movies and it is fun listening to them about that. However, they are left wing West Coast wimpy dudes who judge movies and times based on today's standards. They are pretentious and should stick to the movies, period. And John actually said the United States was built on Idol worship. That sure tells you what they think about this country. stick to the movies, that's what you know and as far as being Americans, that's all you know. After listening to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, it is apparent that the Rocha guy has no clue what he's talking about when it comes to fighting or much of anything else. He is such a pusillanimous little baby. Not a guy you would ever want with you in a tight situation.

I managed a video store for 12 years (the good old days)… your willingness to dive deep into moving that I just saw as completely entertaining it completely enlightening. The most recent podcast ever listen to are Toostie and Mary Poppins…and while they still entertain, your willingness and desire to seek the deeper meaning has challenged me and made me appreciate these films on a much deeper level. In addition…I love all of the info regarding the pre-production and what goes into making a great film work. Thanks so much for sharing your passion and I am so excited to see what comes next! Film podcasts are my guilty pleasure and I’ve listened to countless different shows. The Cine-Files is hands down the best film podcast. While some shows lean on inside jokes and quirky categories to keep listeners engaged, John and Steve provide deep analysis with well-researched background on the production and the cast/crew involved in each film they cover. I always learn something new with each episode and even think about films from a different perspective. If you’re a true lover of film, you won’t find a better podcast than The Cine-Files.

One of my favorite movie podcasts. It’s informative and interesting and engaging. The host are excellent and I always learned so much about the movies that they discussed. Was so happy that they had Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid one of my all-time favorite movies. I plan to watch the Sting prior to listening to their episode.

These two gentlemen do not just "review" movies; they are architects who conduct rigorous film study in each episode, scholars in the truest sense with a whole lot of heart. They have each pursued creative work in Hollywood but this may be their magnum opus. They move me in ways similar to how the films themselves move me, for which I am eternally grateful🙏

Thought the last thing I needed was another film podcast, but after coming across this, it’s now become my favourite one bar none. The chemistry of the two hosts, their breadth and knowledge of film, and their passion they go to in discussing some of the classics makes this a must listen for me, every week.

I love these guys. I appreciate the deep-dive they do on movies, analyzing scene by scene, and moment by moment. I actually prefer the episodes that break a movie into two, three or even four episodes. I love the detailed work that these gentleman do. Listen to this podcast, but only if you love movies!

John and Steve, I don’t do twitter nor instagram and you don’t provide an email, so I’ll try to connect here. Great part 1 on Ordinary People. So many insights into mental health issues. Appreciate the straight talk. Don’t take it as criticism, but there were a couple possible additional connections that were missed that I wanted to point out. Your talk about “normal” was so spot on (appeal to it is almost always a facade, total psychological construct, “no such thing” in reality). I was surprised you didn’t make the connection back to “ordinary” in the title. Second minor thing: You mentioned that Conrad’s time in hospital was never shown, only talked about, but that parallels completely what came up later in the film that Beth *never* visited Conrad in the hospital (“I had the flu!” Heh.). Anyway, great work and I look forward to part 2. I really have zero empathy for the Beth character, maybe due to recent politics: her line later about “of course I think only about myself and so does everyone else, I’m just more honest about it” is *complete* and utter narcissism. I heard the podcast episode about Die Hard while riding in my friend’s car and took a liking to it. So much so I listened to all three episodes which ended my night at @ 1am! It was like I was watching the movie while learning. Now I’m hooked! Good job, fellas!

Between the two hosts and their rotating guests these people truly appreciate cinema and they have a unique perspective to understand it given that one of them is a screenwriter and the other is a film instructor. I’m a relatively new listener, but I’ve already been through at least 10 or 12 episodes. Very happy I found this.

In a world (yes, going for that movie preview voice) where current events, politics l, and even history podcasts these days cause me unbearable anxiety, it is good to discover this podcast where steve and john compellingly discuss many of my favorite movies, or movies that may one day be up there when i get to watching them. Love these guys.

I’ve been a film and cinema lover all of my life and finding new ways to dig into that world is an amazing part of our technological age. Steve and John are amazing hosts with great insights and open minds. I work outdoors and independently, so having something to dig into while I’m working is always welcome. These Jews need to do an expose on the Jewness of Hollywood and how they ignore the evil of the Jew genocide of the Palestinians.

For their Shogun episode 1 & 2 review they spoil future plot points beyond episodes 1 & 2. Not everyone grew up with the 1980’s Shogun or read the book. It’s a bummer for people like me who enjoy listening to a breakdown of each episode right after watching it.

I have been listening to episode throughout this rich library. I love Field of Dreams, and this episode is absolutely fabulous.

John and Steve are true film buffs and friends that are fun to spend an hour (or more) with. They seem to know everything about classic films, directors, actors and cinematography. I love their banter and deep dives into the classics and more modern films. I’ve listened to some episodes twice to get all of it. (Godfather). I’ve rewatched films at times after listening to their analysis and watched some that I might have missed otherwise. Thanks guys for enriching my cine-life!

The best listen when you want a breakdown of your favorite movies!

Really one of your best episodes and thrilled that you did it 3 parts. Regarding The Great Train Robbery/Tommy shot tat the end , I believe Scorsese uses it exactly like it is used in the 1903 film - as an exclamation point on the entire film. And Tommy gets a little bit of an encore. It comes out of nowhere after a bit of a ‘downer” ending and it wakes you up.

Make going through work much easier and make me want to rewatch the films I’ve seen before

More than anything else these guys know how to have a good time talking about movies. If you need a break from all the seriousness and the news pick an episode from one of your favorite movies and nerd out for a bit. Very positive vibes from people who really love movies.
