With the latest events in Afghanistan and the terrorist attacks by ISIS, the concept of an Islamic State or Caliphate is once again being discussed by the media in far from glowing terms. Interestingly, back in September 2015, the Daily Telegraph included a piece by the Syrian historian and former Carnegie scholar Sami Moubayed. He pointed out that the Caliphate was mentioned in the Quran, and that the best response to the terrorists was to set up a modern Caliphate based on mainstream Islam. This podcast will focus on the subject of the Caliphate and the views of the classical scholars.
