Interesting!
If you like weird stories you’ll like this podcast. As others have said the ad breaks are long so the content is short. So, if you’re looking for a bite-sized show, this is a great one. I don’t get the hate for Kat at all. She’s goofy and sweet and the whole point is for them to interrupt each other and play off one another. They have great chemistry! I started from the beginning and I will say there are a few problematic things they say but as it’s moved on they seem to be becoming more aware and educated. Love this journey for them! The only real gripe I have to pick with them is that they repeat stories. I’ve heard the same story twice from them a few times since starting. And it takes me out of it because the other always acts like they’ve never heard it before. Maybe they get a little more organized and do a catalogue of the boxes later? Still great storytelling tho!

Almost 5 Stars!!
My husband & I listen to this podcast every night, and all night, it just plays as we sleep, which makes for some interesting dreams. I too away one star, bc I liked the two episodes per week, not the super long one once a week. I enjoyed the fact that twice a week we got to listen to a few stories before bed. The way it is now we only hear the first two! Is there any way to go back to the original set up? I know you said you’d give it a try, and then see how people liked it or not. Well we love you BOTH, F all these people bagging on Kat, she’s a women to be admired! Anyway, love you both! We just want more smaller broken up ones.

Found your podcast by accident
My daughter was visiting from Austin last summer and as we went for a drive, we browsed podcasts and thought yours looked interesting. What a treat it has been! My daughter was caught up within a few months of listening and I’m finally to November 2023. I’ve enjoyed listening about your moves and have adopted a lot of your phrases and have even had my own mini ‘BOO’ effects. Keep up the good work and keep that freak flag flying! ❤️

Love, love, love
Kat and JG are so enjoyable. I learn things and love the banter. They have made their followers a part of their lives. If you just want information presented matter-of-factly, this isn’t for you. If you want to enjoy and feel vested in the show, this is the show for you. Jump right in to the freak pool.

as I said earlier, I love this podcast!
I just submitted my review and realized that I didn’t get the title in the right place. I neglected to tell you folks something rather important to: I’m legally blind, so doing anything on my phone is a real crapshoot. And obviously I didn’t do the last review correctly. So let me just repeat myself, I think Kat and JG are wonderful people. I wish they were my best friends and then I could hang out with them all the time. My love of true crime podcast is one thing, but it’s balanced by my love for “The Box of Oddities.“

Downhill fast
I started from the beginning with this show. Even bought a T shirt. Found Kat slightly annoying at first, but then couldn’t take her anymore. I would skip through her stories and suffer through her CONSTANT interruptions until I had to just unfollow and use my t shirt as a toilet rag. I tried to revisit recently to the latest show and couldn’t believe she was worse than before. Didn’t think that was possible.

One of the best!
Have listened to every single episode and will probably do it again. I hoard new BoO episodes like a miser so I can listen to them when I’m going to get the absolute most enjoyment. Kat & JG are amazing humans with the best kid of humor. BoO is absolutely one of my most favorite podcasts ever!

Where have you been my whole life?
Hi Kat and JG! I recently discovered your podcast, and I’m already a huge fan! I don’t know why it took me so long to find your podcast but glad that I finally did. Hoping that writing a review helps others find you, too. I’m still making my way through all of the boxes and delighted to have so many left. I love learning about weird stuff with you two. I really appreciate your sense of humor and your love of dogs. My dog Billie Jean listens to your podcast with me (she’s also a fan). I’ve been going through a really challenging time recently and your podcast has brought so much joy into my life. Thanks for being your beautiful selves and for making this show. Proudly flying our freak flags in San Diego! :)

Insensitive
I have listened to the Box of Oddities for a while. Back in times immemorial, I even recommended it to friends. Initially, the quirky banter between the hosts entertained me. When I realized the entertainment was cognitively related to distant memories of my my grandparents bickering during their habitual evening cribbage tourneys, it made things different somehow. This realization felt like a light switch was turned on. My first illuminated vision regarding this podcast was surrounding the masked cultural insensitivity. On the surface it seems like the hosts try to present the topic in an informative way, yet it is called “the Box of Oddities”. It feels like the consumer is being told “look how weird that culture is”. Something else that became glaringly obvious was the ratio of content to commercials. Nowadays, I begin by fast forwarding 5 minutes at the beginning of each episode, then I fast forward 5 minutes again in the middle. This ratio of commercials to content feels exceedingly capitalistic. The “thing in the middle” lost its value. Finally, one has to ponder the state of mind of the hosts. They initially moved from Maine to Florida. Now they left the United States. Perhaps they should be looking inward every time they feel the need to move. One can not deny JG’s ability to spin a yarn, that much is certain.

Put off for five years but yay
So I put off listening to this podcast for about five years only listening to about one a year but then I realize how really good it actually is and now I’m binge listening one after another starting from the beginning.

I just love the social commentary that Kat and Jethro spiel throughout the universe. They take fantastic, unusual and sometimes depressing news, facts, history or observations and make them interesting, entertaining and fun to listen to and , unfortunately educational,….I'm an old , retired man, I don’t want to learn anything anymore! I’m too cynical as I am! But ya’ll always bring a smile to my face. That’s something I usually have to pay extra for. So keep up the good work!

Truly odd
I love this podcast so much. Kat and Jethro even held my attention with the history of soup. They will make you laugh, gag and say huh. Give it a try. You won’t be bored

Great show! I want to be Kat and Jethro’s new best friend!
I just found the podcast and have been listening so I’m only up to July 2018 but I LOVE this show. I’m pretty sure I want my husband and me to be Jethro and Kats new bffs! I’m totally digging them! Great show!

I’M IN LOVE
Within five minutes of my first time listen, I was home. Kat and JG feel like my people- and everyone needs more people. The very first story I listened to was a super disturbing survival story and hey, I’m still here. Looking forward to more. Xoxo

These people are just great!!
You won’t find another podcast with hosts that are anymore enjoyable than these two. Great podcast Gocallgo.

A fan, but….
Still like the show, like a habit I can’t break. I listen in blocks, about 10 episodes at a shot. So maybe that is why I notice subtle changes. Been with you from the beginning and told lots of folks about you, but I’m afraid that the cross talk has gone off of the “interesting banter cliff” and is just annoying. I was a tad taken aback at the “Jethro manscapes” episode and am noticing that Kat is seriously snarky more than ever before. If you are tired of the podcast and can’t wait to leave for Ecuador, then do it.

Late to this amazing show!!
I just discovered this incredible show! The vibe between this couple is awesome and hilarious and the odd stories are so interesting. They bring their own sense of humor (which is amazing) and I can’t get enough. I will be binging for weeks to catch up! Love this podcast so much. Quirky, cute, funny and just so entertaining! 5 stars for sure!

Love it.
I love random, useless information. When I accidentally stumbled across this yesterday I knew I had to check it out. I started at the beginning and am about 6 episodes in. I’ve already shared the link with my son. Thanks for the fun podcast!

I love love love listening to Kat & Jethro! It amazes me on much I learn about how freaky our world is. I must have been living under a “box” because I had no idea about all the freaky history that they have introduced to me. I hope The Box of Oddities will continue to entertain me!

One of the highlights of my week
Hilarious, informative and sometimes cute. Every time Jethro says medieval or vigilante it makes my butthole pucker, but that’s nothing in comparison to the joy that listening to these two brings me. Love you both!

Part of my weekly podcast diet
BOO has been a part of my weekly podcast diet since the beginning. Kat and Jethro are amazing and tell stories that are interesting, often humorous, dark, and captivating. They are part of my daily commute and I always look forward to new episodes. Who cares if they use Wikipedia for a resource. Captain 1 star review needs to get a life. Put down the hot pocket, get out of the basement, and don’t be afraid to enjoy the world around you! One of my favorites
I listen to a lot of podcasts. A LOT! And I’m SO glad I found this one and The Shallow End. Not only are their voices a dream to listen to, they’re funny, smart, sometimes vulnerable, and all around just great. This and TSE are the first pods I go to when I’m ready to plug my headphones into my head. Thanks!

♥️Best Podcast Ever!
Kat and Jethro are the absolute best. It’s been a hard few years for me and there have been many a day BOO (and my 5 cats) have kept me hanging on. They are just the best. Also, if you like The Box of Oddities, check out The Shallow End With Schnebly and Toth.

Love them
Kat’s topics are often boring. I usually just listen to the first half of the episode. I wish that their other podcast Shallow Snd included her and we could get the two guys on this one. But they are very professional podcasters! Informative, with funny banter and stay on point. There’s a few minutes in the beginning maybe talking about their lives, and then they get straight to the subject! Much appreciated. No vocal fry or upspeak.

Love it! Definitely a new fan here
I first heard about y’all through listening to Timesuck and scared to death by Dan Cummins and his wife, I won’t try to spell her name as I know it’s unique but y’all know who I’m talking about hahaha. Today I downloaded the first 14 episodes to listen to while I work and I can say that I am now a huge fan! Thank you guys so much! I can’t wait to catch up and thank you for the amazing content!

Are you looking for an interactive podcast that is dense with commercials, pointless blathering, and the occasional subjectively tinted obscure material? If so, look no further! It is an interactive experience due to the frequency one hits the fast forward thingy on their screen. Literally at least 1/5 of the experience is commercials and another significant part is just blathering (picture yourself as a 5 year old child sitting in the car with your dad and his current wife on a long road trip to visit the parents of your dad’s current wife that don’t like your dad, and your dad and his current wife are bickering about upcoming happenings). Cheerio
