A native Angeleno, Mark Steven Greenfield studied under Charles White and John Riddle at Otis Art Institute in a program sponsored by the Golden State Life Insurance Company. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education in 1973 from California State University, Long Beach. To support his ability to make his art, he held various positions as a visual display artist, a park director, a graphic design instructor and a police artist before returning to school, graduating with Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from California State University, Los Angeles in 1987. Creator of the reading series Dirty Laundry Lit, Deón was recently named one of L.A.'s "Most Fascinating People" in L.A. Weekly's 2013 People Issue. The Blk Grrrl Show talks to LA Progressive's Dick and Sharon about how 9/11 brought about a new era of abuse to US citizens and the importance of the left to be vocal in the Democratic party and to Vega Darling who is a punk rocker turned filmmaker. Darling has deep roots in riot grrrl. He has organized feminist, queer, trans, and punk festivals, events, and conferences including Philadelphia Trans Health Conference (2004-2009) where he designed the first of its kind trans youth and family programming, Ladyfest Bay Area (2012), and Gender Reel Film Festival in Oakland (2013). Currently he is the Program Director for Gender Reel Film Festivals and the Director of the riot grrrl documentary, "GRRRL."
