Today I sit down with my friend Courtney and we chat about the wealth gap in the black community.  This was a subject that resonated deeply with us, as we both started from incredibly humble beginnings.

Disney+ recently released the Broadway sensation, "Hamilton" and I personally have watched in no less than 49 times.  It has a cast full of color, the music is hip-hop- how could this not be a good thing for black people?  The musical is not without controversy.  Today, my friend Bre and I discuss some of the criticism and share our thoughts.

Oppression is not new to people of color, but we also have to discuss the oppression, divide and racism that exists within our communities.  Today I speak with Beca, one of my dearest friends, about her experience raising biracial children in a Latino community.

The George Floyd murder awakened the hearts of many mothers across America.  Today, I speak with Shontay, my bestfriend, about her dual experience, as a black child and raising a black son in America.

We are in a time where we are starting to question what we don't know about black history and the black experience. My personal experience as a biracial woman, teetering between two worlds, has drawn me into a personal quest to find and understand the lessons missing from my high school and college curriculum. Black Study Hall is a space where we ask questions, discuss experiences and learn out loud together.  It may be uncomfortable, but that's where the growth happens right?
