It occurred on October 3, 2009, when a force of 300 Taliban assaulted the American Combat Outpost ("COP") Keating near the town of Kamdesh in Nuristan Province in eastern Afghanistan. First Sergeant Jason Belford enlisted in the United States Army on April 15, 2005. He completed Basic and Advanced Individual Training here at Fort Benning GA. First Sergeant Belford has  served in the 75th Ranger Regiment 3rd Ranger Battalion in all duty positions through First Sergeant. He is currently serving as the Bravo Company First Sergeant in the Officers Candidate school (OCS).
