This week, with Grant and Bryce busy, we decided to have Lafayette College guard Alex Petrie on to join Nick for this episode.  They start off by discussing quarantine and how that has gone for him so far. Then, they go on to talk about their final four run back at St. Christopher's (7:25) as well as some of the differences between high school and college (13:14),  including the healthy fear of college each of them have, and the differences in the guys' mentality (19:00). Next, they talk about Alex's first year of college (24:10), where he won rookie of the year, and how he was able to succeed so early in his career, including workout tips (28:20), and how he managed the expectations for his next season (34:24). The guys then talk about the importance of expanding your horizons in college (40:18), including having other interests and taking advantage of the full college experience. This Episode, the Big Guards welcome Butler men's basketball player, Campbell Donovan. Campbell talks about his journey to becoming a walk-on a Butler and why he choose the school. He then talks about some of his walk-on duties, which include scout team all-star, cheerleader, and weight room all-american. He then discusses his first bucket, first point, and free throw jitters. Bryce then discusses him being the cheesecake guy at Butler, which is an hilarious story. The guys then give review the Eastern Conference Finals, which includes hot takes about Marcus Smart. Next they give their NBA Finals preview and prediction, which include the who we think wins and Finals MVP prediction. Next, the guys give review week 3 of the NFL season. This week, the boys talk about the November 25th start date, and how they took the news. Then, the guys talk about how the bubbles would look for the season, and what they think the season will look like. The guys then turn back the clock and talk a little about their freshman years. How they felt going from high school to college, how they felt during their first couple of practices, and how they often thought about switching careers. They then talk about their welcome to college moments, and moments where they received the blame for games they hardly even played. Next, they talk about the moment they realized they belonged, whether it be a game that they actually played in, or the confidence watching fellow classmates of theirs. The boys then talk about the best guys they played against so far in their careers. Next, they recap the NBA playoffs, including trading Danny Green for a loaf of bread. Lastly, the discuss the NFL season and some surprising performances, including Cam Newton's resurgence, as well as Kirk Cousins and the QB from Philly's mediocre performance up to this point. Back after a week off, the boys are joined by Butler guard Jair Bolden. The boys discuss Jair's journey, from George Washington to South Carolina and now to Butler, and how that process went for him. The guys then talk about some stories from back in 2016, when Jair was in the A-10, and pay homage to some legends who played in the conference at the time. The boys talk about the freshman to sophomore jump, and how much they underestimated the step up in role.  Jair then talks about the difference between the A-10 and the SEC and how he adjusted. Next, the guys talk about the NBA playoffs, as well as some of the surprises from the playoffs and some predictions moving forward. The guys then recap some of the things that stuck out to them from week 1. Lastly, the guys talk about three franchises that wouldn't bother them if they saw them in a playoff setting. The week, Preseason National Player of The Year Luka Garza, center for the Iowa Hawkeyes joins the show. The guys talk about his jump from a good player to a great player, as well as how is summer went with pre-draft workouts and the craziness of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then Luka, Bryce and Grant recap some of the high school battles that they had against each other, as well as some funny stories from their Team Takeover AAU days. Next, the guys discuss some of the recent NFL news, as well as some of their questionable fantasy draft ideas. They then talk about the NBA playoffs, including some walking back of some hot takes from previous episodes. Lastly, the guys give the three athletes that they trust most in clutch situations. In this week's episode, the boys welcome University of Richmond guard Jacob Gilyard. They begin the episode by talking about the NBA work stoppage, and their initial thoughts about what the players did and how to move forward. The guys then discuss what they would do if a boycott was presented to them and how those conversations would go, as well as what they would like to see the players do for their next steps. Next, the group talks about the NBA playoffs, specifically the performances of Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic. That discussion leads into the guys talking about what influences their rankings of players. Is it most most recent performances, is it accolades, or is it some combination of many things? To finish, each guy lists their top 3 most overrated athletes, which is accompanied by some scorching hot takes.

On this episode, the guys talk about students coming back to their campuses, and how long they think they will actually stay in school. They then talk about the Fernando Tatis Jr. situation and the unwritten rules of baseball and how they are a sham and need to be changed immediately, as well as some of the unwritten rules in other sports. Next they recap UFC 252 and wonder how long they would last in the octagon. The guys then discuss some of the NBA action, but not the Portland-LA series because game 1 doesn't count. On this third episode, University of Pennsylvania guard Jelani WIlliams joins the Big Guard podcast as our first ever guest. The guys discuss some of the things happening in collegiate athletics, specifically some of the schools cancelling fall sports. Jelani also discuss how the Ivy League has stayed ahead of everything, and what the schools need to be doing to better protect their athletes from COVID-19, as well as some of the economic and health protections necessary to continue the season. Then Bryce, Grant, and Nick finally answer the question everyone has been wanting to know: What is a big guard? What are some of the qualifications, as well as what are some of our favorite memories as a big guard? The guys then discuss the NBA seeding games, as well as what are the implications of having no fans for playoff games. Lastly, the guys list the three athletes that anger them irrationally the most. They also discuss the recent developments in the Pac-12 and Big Ten in regards to their athletes, and whether or not they want to be paid by the universities, and how compensation should look during COVID-19 and beyond. The guys then talk about the NBA and the success of their bubble, as opposed to the lack of success of the MLB's plan up to this point. Next, the guys talk about the NFL Top 100 list, and make fun of a certain quarterback who was left off the list. Lastly, the guys discuss the top 3 moments they wish they could go back and change in sports history. 

Grant, Nick, and Bryce introduce the Big Guard Podcast to the world. The guys discuss some of their thoughts about quarantine, as well as their feelings about being on their respective campuses during these strange times. They follow that up by showing their excitement about Cam Newton joining the Patriots, as well as the some other thoughts about other QBs around the league, specifically a certain QB with a playoff allergy. The guys then discuss their expectations for the baseball and basketball seasons, as well as their thoughts about small market teams winning in the postseason.
