In classic rock circles if the right ears overhear you talking about the band Angel, or its front man Frank Dimino, heads will most likely turn. If you watched Dick Clark's American Bandstand religiously you probably saw Angel all dressed in their signature white outfits performing one of their hits. If you dig Zappa then you know "Punky's Whips": the song that satirically immortalizes Angel and its guitarist Punky Meadows in the hallowed halls of the Frank Zappa library.
But if you dove deep into a love of the heavier side of rock music of the late 70's, then you probably pressed your headphones close to your ears to get lost in songs like "The Tower", "White Lightning" and "Feelin' Right", not to mention the dozens of other fan favorites from this legendary and quite influential rock band. Though never really winning the commercial success it so much deserved, Angel, with its core members Punky Meadows, Mickie Jones, Gregg Giuffria, Barry Brandt and lead vocalist Frank Dimino did win the respect and admiration of musicians and die-hard fans the world over, and almost single-handedly ushered in the new breed of heavy metal hair bands that dominated the 80's.
An alumni of Boston's Berklee College of Music, Frank Dimino parlayed his education, a dynamic stage pressence and powerful vocal ability into a career that most musicians could only imagine. With his trademark suspenders and white microphone stand, Frank had record deals with major labels, was mobbed like a Beatle in Japan, and earned several album and song writing credits spanning decades. After Angel Frank gained commercial success writing and performing in television and feature films such as "Foxes" with Jody Foster and the iconic 80's dance movie "Flashdance".
Frank currently teaches vocal lessons and mentors up-an-coming performers via his company Dimino Enterprises. But above all, Frank DiMino is a solid old-school rock star most at home on a stage, big or small. Though much of the glam-rock fanfare has passed, Frank is still hard at it working stages throughout Las Vegas with other veteran rockers. He performing occasionally with various bands including The Sin City Sinners but works mostly with his own band Vinyl Tattoo, featuring Stryper guitarist Oz Fox. Hold your lighters up high! Episode 22 is legendary rocker Frank Dimino.

Musicians are magicians. They conjure. They can make things appear that weren't there before and produce sights sounds and feelings that were once hidden. Seth Turner is wizard. He can turn a Vegas lounge into an old honky-tonk somewhere outside of Dallas. With the flip of a pick and a twang he can bring a dead room to life. When he sings his own brand of country music he takes you to that place where you really live. He brings you down dirt roads past open fields and mountains scenes to that place in your heart where horses run and cowboys mend fences, where saloons pour whiskey for good people living the good life. Seth's style, sound, and music conjures that kind of country magic. Today's country music has evolved into a new pop-rock genre of music that many say ain't really country. Though Seth Turner and his band The High Desert Drifters can rip that new country style like nobody's business and bust out requests from Segar to Springsteen, Seth shines when wielding the Haggard and Jennings magic wand. The real Seth Turner magic comes alive, however, when his original music appears on stage. Ladies and gents, cowboys and cowgirls, episode 20 is Seth C. Turner.

It's one thing to have a job you like; it sure beats the alternative. It's another thing though to do what you love as a job. Patrick Puffer is one of those lucky individuals who looks back on his career with a great big smile and looks forward with an even bigger smile for the stages yet to come. When you look back to the 80s hair metal era, you might crack a smile and wonder what the hell we were all thinking. Big hair, tight clothes, all that androgyny and excess. Patrick Puffer gets a kick out of it as well but cracks wise with a fond sense of nostalgia and experience because he lived that life on stage, under the lights, on the road. As lead singer and guitar player for the band Intimate Acts, Patrick toured the states throughout the 80's eventually landing in LA to seek his fame and fortune from catapult clubs like The Whiskey, Gazzarri's, and The Roxy. But like so many other artists of that time still adhering to the Winger, Poison and BonJovi schools of rock, the Nirvana bitch-slap came down hard on Patrick's band. On the verge, with record companies in the audience, contracts nearly in hand, Intimate Acts became just another casualty in the grunge wars of the late 80's. But not one to sit idly by and wax poetic on glory days, Patrick re-invented himself for a new market: cruise ships. For over ten years Patrick performed on ships, first as part of a duo and then as a solo act, an act you can still see today here throughout Las Vegas, primarily at the Cannery Casino. Incredibly likable, talented and happy, Patrick Puffer is episode 17.

As a young woman she performed weekly with late legendary Hee-Haw country star Buck Owens. If you're a fan of hard rock music and spend any time in Las Vegas you will stumble across the valley's most popular hard rock radio station KOMP 92.3, The Rock Station. And if you're able to get up early enough (or if you never sleep, this is Vegas after all) your ears and funny bone will most likely run into KOMP's hilarious morning show with Craig, Al and Andy featuring Sweet Al Miller, as he is more commonly known. But there's so much more to Sweet Al than what you hear on the morning show. A well versed songwriter, singer and guitarist, Sweet Al and his dynamic hard-hitting band 333 has been tearing it up on rock stages for over a decade opening at times for top bands such as Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mud, Tesla, Vince Neil and most recently Guns & Roses. Though Sweet Al composes from the heavy guitar persective with haunting melodies and darker powerful chord structures, the messages he carries are much lighter and uplifting, though far more spiritual than religious. "If I'm gonna go ahead and write something it's gotta mean something to me." says Miller. Not one to follow suit with the trappings of lavish galmour and LA-ish based party and excess lyricism often regaled in popular music, Sweet Al wites from a mature heart about the elevation of other people and the elevation of the "common thread that binds us all together". According to Miller, "Any message we're bringin is just be good to yourself and be good to everybody around you and be kind." Episode 13 is Sweet Al Miller.
