The Better Together Podcast seeks to bring the dialogue about inclusion and diversity to everyone, no matter where they are. The podcast will feature a variety of guests from researchers, faculty and students at UF and in the Gainesville community.
Benny Torres
Benny Torres is a lecturer in the department of advertising at the College of Journalism and Communications. He graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with degrees in Psychology and Advertising and landed his dream job working on the Nintendo account at Leo Burnett in Chicago. In this episode, he talks about his experience at UF, his work with Nintendo, and storytelling as a tool for bringing people together. Benny empowers students to speak up and demand more from the companies that will employ them.

Dr. Kate Ratliff
Dr. Kate Ratliff is an associate professor in the department of psychology at the University of Florida. In this episode, she talks about her work as executive director of Project Implicit and how psychology can inform inclusionary initiatives. Project Implicit is a non-profit corporation and international collaboration between researchers looking at implicit bias. Dr. Ratliff runs a lab at UF where she looks at data gathered from Project Implicit’s website. Her primary work looks at implicit bias and the defensive reaction that some people have upon learning their bias.

Ian, the 2018-19 UF Student Body President, is a second-generation Gator from Atlanta, GA pursuing a Master's in International Business. He is involved with several organizations on campus including Black Student Union, Florida Blue Key and Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. In this episode, he discusses what it is like to be a double-gator, the first Black UF Student Body President in over a decade and his personal experiences with inclusion and diversity on campus.
