On this episode, Stephanie and guest host Jill Dunstan sit down with Megan, a loving mother, full-time professional, active runner and survivor of postpartum depression. A glance at Megan’s Facebook page shows countless fun and loving photos of her and her son Jaxom, including museum visits, hanging out at the park, and taking weekend selfies. Megan and her son look to be the best of friends. Pictures don’t always tell the whole story. For the first six and a half years of Jaxom’s life, Megan struggled with post-partum depression. Today, Megan speaks her truth regarding her depression and the lack of connection she felt with her son from the minute he was born. She walks us through the struggles, the sadness, the anger and relentless effort that came with striving for the relationship that she always dreamed of with her child. Megan shares how she survived the most difficult time in her life and how she found peace. We hope this episode will eliminate the shame, embarrassment, guilt and anger that mothers sometimes feel regarding their struggles with postpartum depression.
