The Lone Ranger of Tilden Nature Area
Hi,
I’ve just stumbled across your podcast. I’m a 32 years old woman and I also grew up in the EBRPD. I appreciate every bit of what you guys are doing, researching, and sharing with everyone!
I’d like to put out a feel for a possible episode, on my Dad. Mark Hertz. He has recently retired from the Tilden Nature Area. He was the one and only Park Ranger for the past 33 years. He’s a humble, dedicated and extremely hardworking man. He did everything without praise, he did everything for the park, for the visitors, for the experiences and memories. He was always proud of his “job” and it showed with all the projects and things he did for Tilden Nature Area. Many many people know him & his work within the district.
I’d be happy to follow up with you guys if this story shows any interest! There’s a lot to dig up!

Excellent historical podcast
This is a high quality podcast from UC Berkeley’s Oral History Center documenting the first response to the AIDS crisis. This uses historical recordings in an enlightening and powerful way.
