More Substance Please
Maybe this is just me, but I want more information that I can apply to my business in real time. I thought this would be a podcast that would provide me with insights that o can use to better understand my customers. This podcast seems to be for a very niche group of professionals that specialize in human behavior.

Love!
I’m a new BCBA and I love learning. This helps me learn from amazing and diverse people on diverse topics on the go while I drive, workout, or sit down to study and it’s not too long for it to become tedious

LOVE but…
Matt interviewed the owner of a company in Atlanta that I know from personal experience does not treat their employees well nor hire quality BCBA’s. However I am obsessed with how the literature is disseminated in this podcast and have learned how to think outside of the box in how I will make decisions as a future BCBA.

Love to Geek out.
Love this podcast!! I think the guests are wonderfully diverse in their expertise and the information shared in the episodes is practical and applicable. Love listening on my way to work. Gets me inspired for the day :) As a BCBA in a public school, I also love to use some of the episodes as resources for my staff and to also share with staff in other disciplines as a way to spark interdisciplinary conversations.

Ethics for School Consultation with Missy Olive
Listening to the specific episode listed in the title was an assignment for one my undergrad courses for my bachelors degree in ABA. Such an interesting episode with a lot of knowledge points for someone who is interested in becoming a BCBA in school districts. I love that they discussed ethical issues when working with schools and how to go about handling those issues according to the BACB. It was awesome how Missy held a class for teachers regarding behavior. I’m excited to listen to more episodes and get more tips that will be helpful on my journey to becoming a BCBA.

As a student pursuing my bachelors in ABA and eventually become a BCBA this podcast was very informative on subjects I don’t yet have much experience in. I really liked listening to common ethical issues that BCBA’s run into and your suggestions.

Interesting and Informative
I thought episode 164 was very interesting and informative. I found myself wanting to hear more about the BALANCE program and how Kelsey developed it and how she plans on taking it further in the future. The episode did become a little boring and dry at times, but overall I think Matt did a good job keeping on track with the questions he prepared and Kelsey did a good job discussing her career path and how she got to where she is today.

As an aspiring BCBA it was very informative to listen to session 101 with Missy Olive. The ethical situations brought up throughout the episode were specifically, relevant, and answered clearly. It was also interesting to learn Missy’s story on her road to becoming a BCBA as well as to hear accounts on how ABA has progressed.

I loved how Mary Olive discussed it’s unethical to do “drive by ABA”. I would recommend this podcast if your in the field of ABA. I loved how she mentioned BCBA in school are more then just those with walkie talkies and can’t put out dumpster fires.

Session 101 with Missy Olive
I truly enjoyed listening to the podcast! I love hearing about how Missy started with the field of ABA. Also, learning about different challenges we could face in the field and the solutions that can be helpful when faced with these challenges. As someone who is new to the field of ABA but works in the education field, it’s really interesting to have knowledge of both sides. Truly love the field of ABA and wish it was done more in the schools I work in!

Guidelines for school system
This was an interesting podcast. I always wondered what is what like to work in the school setting and this was definitely eye opening. I was shocked with how there is a dire need for better guidelines for providing services when in the school system.

Objective and Informative
I appreciate the relaxed banter between Matt and his guests. While there are moments that seem over-explained on his end, I find myself eager to hear the response his guests offer. If you love ABA and genuinely want to learn more from a unique perspective, I recommend giving this podcast a listen.

Podcast feedback
I really enjoyed listening to people who have real life experiences in the field. I haven’t been able to get a start in the BCBA world and I’m just talking college classes so it helps the hear it. Also I am much of an audio learner and this helps me understand so much more!

On the ethics of school consultation
I really enjoyed the episode with Missy Olive! It really outlined the need for better guidelines for providing behavioral services in schools- I didn’t realize that federal courts don’t even define FBA and how messy that can get in special education law. So many people are under the impression that beginning BCBAs should be immediately involved in positions at schools- but really, for the most part these positions should be for the most experienced BCBAs! As Missy said, it’s a lot different from a clinical setting where you are in control of everything. Also Missy’s point about how in student IEPs we need to make it required that we are focusing on functional outcomes just as much as educational. A really informative episode.

The ethics of school consultation with missy olive
This podcast was a great listen whether you work in schools or not. I loved hearing about how Missy started her journey being in ABA. You hear many different stories of individuals getting into aba, Missy’s story differed from most. I loved how the podcast went into depth about school consultation due to many listeners wanting to know more about the topic or who have questions about many different facets about consults to schools. One ethical challenge they discussed I feel may come up often was them talking about the “drive by ABA”. We are not able to help those with special needs without some form of a contract like an IEP. They gave great advice to solve this reoccurring issue in schools by stating to try to get the parents on board with creating the IEP and working with their kids so that ABAs can step in to help their child if it is needed. The podcast does a great job going over different scenarios that ABAs could come upon and their suggestions on what your next step should be. I feel this was a great listen especially for individuals who plan to work in school consultation.

Autism Mom Review
I am so happy to have found your podcast. I am a mom to an Autistic 11 year old son and many of your podcast have helped me manage the way we function together, separately and understand the needs of many. I have always been an advocate for Autism and therapy. On my darkest days of his diagnosis I felt very alone. I went to many doctors and my 15-30 minute visits were everything short of what I truly needed. Therapy changed our lives. He has truly improved to be the best person he can be. Yes, we have more therapy to go to and look forward to our new adventures. Your podcast assures me that science is doing it’s job and BCBA is evolving with the needs of special needs and people like you are spreading the good word of working on behaviors and understand their needs! 🤍

Interesting topics
I've listened to two sessions so far: Cannabis, Condoms, and Psilocybin: Session 118 with Dr. Matt Johnson and A Behavioral Analysis of Mass Shootings: Session 79 with Dr. Merill Milton. These sessions are very interesting to listen to. I feel like both the host and guests are very knowledgable on the subjects discussed.

Great For Future BCBA’s!
As a current undergrad student studying to become a BCBA, I found this podcast to be extremely insightful, along with being entertaining! Informative and thought provoking
As someone who is just beginning their behavioral analysis journey I found the podcast episode with Missy Olive especially informative. I love the focus on Ethics and the discussion of real examples of experiences and problems BCBAs may face as consultants in school systems. I would have liked to hear more information pertaining to how to navigate the beginning stages of relationships with schools. I did like the emphasis on hearing them out before going in and stating what is “right”. I also learned a lot from Missy’s discussion on non-scientific collaboration with other professionals regarding a client’s needs being met in the best way possible.

Easy to Listen to
I enjoyed how the episodes I listened to often explained concepts in a manner those outside the field could easily understand. I appreciated how the field of ABA and the work of BCBAs was identified as useful in different fields.

Learned a lot
As an undergraduate student in an ABA program, I really learned a lot from this podcast! I do think it could have been narrowed down and more condensed or split into multiple podcasts though, it was a little all over the place and long.

Informational and encouraging!
As a student currently majoring in ABA, I find these episodes very informative! I found myself learning so much about how ABA was at the beginning and how to grow more and goals to try to achieve in the field. I liked being able to go for a walk and learn more about the current field of ABA in a humorous yet informative way!

Thank you Matt!
I can’t thank you enough for hosting this podcast. I’ve always felt like staying on top of professional literature was overwhelming. So much to read and so little time. I have learned about so many practitioners and practices from your podcast. After the podcast, I have something specific I can go and dig deeper into. I feel more confident about chiming on discussions with my colleagues. I cannot be an expert in all areas, but by listening I feel more connected to our field and our science. This is a tremendous service to the community.

Needs less host talk
Need to make things faster paced and more of the guest talking rather than host! By the time I listen for 20 mins of host I am ready to give up on the entire episode.

Oof I don’t know...
The guests are good, yes, but the host leaves much to be desired IMO. Sooo much extra hemming and hawing and filler and pausing... Get to your points quicker! My commute is only so long. And the sound quality is not great. I just can’t with this one.
