The Beat - Reducing Giving Set Use in Paediatrics
The Beat podcast is designed exclusively for healthcare professionals and brought to you by Nutricia. In this episode of The Beat podcast, our host Katie Sharp - an Enteral Feed Contract Account Manager and Regional Lead at Nutricia - talks to Marie Watson, the lead paediatric home enteral tube feeding dietitian based at Sheffield Children's Hospital. They discuss how Marie and her team helped encourage patients and parents of patients to reduce their plastic usage in giving sets. Since starting a sustainability journey a couple of years ago, Sheffield Children's Hospital have worked very hard to reduce the use of single use plastics for their Nutricia Homeward tube feeding patients. Working closely with parents and Nutricia, Marie and her team wanted to demonstrate that reusing giving sets was not only safe but would have huge benefits in reducing single-use plastic waste. Marie outlined how the project came about, and how it ultimately helped herself, her team and the parents of patients to overcome their reservations about reusing giving sets.

S1: Compassion Fatigue - brought to you in partnership with Feel Good
The Beat podcast is designed for healthcare professionals only and is brought to you by Nutricia. In this mini-series in partnership with Feel Good, the experts in the psychology of people, join their specialists from the fields of nutrition, psychology, mental health, mindfulness, sleep and movement in these 20 minute ‘powershot’ podcasts to encourage you to learn on the move. One of the most remarkable aspects of being a human is our ability to feel compassion for others. That can be for people we know, right through to complete strangers. As with many things in life, it comes with a downside, because the very act of being supportive, compassionate, and caring towards others extracts a cost, both emotionally and physically. There is a limit to how much compassion we can provide for others and if we cross the line there are real and profound consequences for our own wellbeing. We know those working in customer, management or patient facing roles, particularly in the current climate are at significant risk. In this podcast with Philippa Spencer, Chartered Psychologist, we will unpack the topic of compassion fatigue, explain what it is, why it occurs and help people recognise their own risk factors. We will share ideas and strategies for how to maintain personal wellbeing so the ability to care for others remains intact and is maintained over time.
