From the North Bay to the South, from the Town to the City, I hear stories that are trending like Oakland’s homeless or the recent South Bay ballot measure for a no-caste vote. But more often I hear journalism from the fringe, like environmental impacts at Richmond’s refinery, or LGBTQ+ issues. The journalism is imbued with local analysis from both sides of the fence, and eye toward equity and injustice(s). If you like NYTimes’ The Daily, you’ll enjoy The Bay; a deep, humane dive into leading issues around The Bay. Thanks!

As expected from San Francisco it’s chuck full of liberal, leftist crap.

I’ve been listening for years and I notice a change in the narrative. Lately, this podcast has become too liberal. It’s very bias and only states information from the left point of view. I’m not happy that it’s pro-BLM even though the BLM “nonprofit” has proven to be a scam.

I really appreciate that the podcast can focus on one issue in depth in each episode. However, is it possible to also include a small section of other day-to-day stuff, such as weather, major public transport outages, etc?

I feel much more connected to the Bay Area since I added this to my mandatory listening!

I know this isn’t the right place to leave a comment on a particular podcast, but I didn’t know where else to share comment. The latest episode “ the clean girl aesthetic” was great I really enjoyed it. I’m Bay Area guy in my late 30s with no kids let alone teenage girls in my “household” on TikTok etc but really appreciated and was engaged by the perspective. Great podcast. Thanks for sharing.

If you have a liberal bias even for The Bay Area, this is part of your echo chamber. If you are looking for balanced views or at least all sides, this has no value. If you do not speak Spanish, you cannot follow many stories. This used to be solid journalism. Very sad 😔

The (first of many I’m sure) People’s Park episode was particularly interesting and informative. Thank you for the in-depth background, reporting, and reality-check. This is the kind of event/issue/location/situation that I feel this podcast is uniquely suited for.

The episode I listen to on self driving cars was almost unreasonable because the mix was so bad. It was distracting bring the levels down on the SFX please and thanks for the great information.

Used to be a great show. Somewhere along the social upheaval of 2016-current the company took a side and reports one sidedly with major bias. Sad.

I’m so glad I found this podcast! As a Bay Area native and resident it’s so important to understand what’s happening, and the historical context for it. Love the host, the stories, and this narrative way of presenting the news.

I used to like this podcast and appreciated the deep dives into local issues. Lately, the topics have all been social injustice of the week. It’s not journalism when only one side is presented. This podcast, and the left, are so obsessed with race and oppression.

I’m just going to leave it at that—this show chooses meaningful content, rigorously researched, and presented in ways that move us to think, be and do something about parts of life that matter deeply.

I return to this podcast day after day to feel connected and knowledgeable about this place where I have lived for over 50 years and still don’t know as well as I should.

I love this podcast. The team always finds interesting topics with a new spin. Knowing more about the area where I live is invaluable.

Don’t listen to this podcast if you’re looking for a balanced reporting. The stories are done from a social justice, leftist perspective. There is a very clear editorial bent to every episode (namely that capitalism is evil). I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard the host used to do stand up comedy since he does not make any attempt at humor.

I really can’t say how much this podcast helps me keep my sanity. Without the morning commute, daily sights sounds and smells of a before-times day and little ways we get news throughout the day it’s so easy to fall into your own oblivion. The Bay reminds me that there’s something bigger than me. Something that’s not just me trying to make these snacks last until my next pandemic grocery/supply/medicine haul.

Thank you Devin, your voice is great and I enjoy the subjects and your delivery of information about our wonderful Bay Area and people who make it unique. I live in Vallejo. (these kids are fearless) Great coverage of our struggle here with police and community. I have been in the Bay Area all of my life, living in San Francisco during the summer of love and experiences since then have made me. I’m sure grateful for these experiences, many of us here in the Bay have shared. This is the Bay Area,and you articulate some of our stories so well.

This podcast informs you on tons of things that go on in the Bay Area. Very in-depth in so many areas. My brother who moved away from the Bay Area 6 years ago listens just to keep him informed on what’s going on in the bay.

Born and raised in the bay (although some wouldn’t consider Petaluma the bay) and I have loooooved every single episode of this podcast, no joke. They tackle everything from social/racial justice, to highlighting local leaders, to life (um episodes about BART!!? Yes???!!), art, and culture. The show makes me love the bay, and brings awareness to what we may overlook (and can change) when living in this bubble.

From issues such as housing to social equity, Devin and team have done an awesome job creating and producing the content of this podcast. I particularly enjoyed the 5 part series How We Got Here that talks about the various facets of the current economic and labor conditions. Keep up the great work. I would love to see video content (as applicable) sometime soon. I highly encourage this podcast to folks here in the SF bay area who are interested in detailed stories and analysis on the nuanced issues of our times. ...everything having to be race related. Seriously, once you let go of your anger and not look at EVERYTHING through a racial lens, the world opens up. Also, “Laninx”? Enough already millennials, you can’t re-brand a race with an x. Maybe it’s just me being 42 but it looks foolish. I have an “ez” at the end of my name and I’ve done fine because I haven’t gone through life with a chip on my shoulder. Done with this pod. Quit crying over everything and just work harder cause no one really cares about your whining. You’re not making a difference, just confirmation bias for people who have the same jaded views.

Though I’m on the east coast, I listen to this excellent podcast to feel in touch with the Bay Area, where my grown children live. Its coverage of area issues is both granular and widely relatable. I look forward to every episode.

Can you please not subsidize and support the terrible regime of the CCP and its puppets in Macau? The fact that you’re running Beijing-sponsored ads for Hong Kong’s neighbor that capitulated to the PROC while Hong Kongers are fighting for the survival of their democracy is a bit gross.

Maybe it’s a sign of the times we live in, but most of the topics are real downers. I like to listen to pods that brighten up my morning - or at least don’t put me in a bummed out mood. But from local shootings to the homeless and housing crises, it feels like only 1 out of 5 episodes have something positive to share. For something more lighthearted and local: trim to Bay Curious
