FINAL EPISODE OF SERIES 2 - and we're finishing off with a belter (excuse the Musical Theatre pun...)Philip Joel (@philipjoel87) is a performer and choreographer, but you might know him best from social media. What started as a bit of comedic relief for him and his friends snowballed and became regular sketch style videos watched by (feels like) everyone in the theatre world. After pitching a theatre-based sketch show online, Philip was approached by people wanting to take the idea further and met his creative match in David Muscat of Emerge Production House. The rest is history, before he knew it, Philip was filming the pilot of the 'Fosse Forest Ballet' with MT royalty including Kerry Ellis and Louise Dearman! If you want to watch it, you can find it here and all proceeds go to Acting For Others and a cause very close to our own heart, the Theatres Trust. As always, this episode is raising awareness of the amazing work happening at Theatres Trust, to support theatres throughout the pandemic and in their time of need. If you can spare anything it would be very much appreciated and you can donate here. From the Backstage Revolution, we wish you a gorgeous festive period even if it looks a little different this year. If you're not in the business, or sometimes even when you are, you might overlook the role of a producer because they often operate behind the scenes. But the reality is - no producer, no show.In this episode, I chat to Katy Lipson, award-winning producer and champion of new theatre. She set up her own production company, Aria Entertainment, in 2012 and was Producing Artistic Director at the Hope Mill Theatre from 2016 - 2019. A total powerhouse in the industry, when you start to look through Katy's production history you realise that it's almost impossible not to have seen one of them, from the likes of Pippin to The Addams Family. It was really inspiring to talk about new theatre and the importance of fresh voices, something Katy strongly advocates for. I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to rate, subscribe and donate to the Theatres Trust #saveourtheatres!Follow us on Instagram @thebackstagerevolutionFollow Katy @katyariaents

Writer, impressionist, comedian and all round good egg - on today's episode I interviewed Rachel Harper. Now Rachel is a very talented writer, who debuted her one-woman show "Rattled" in 2019, which earned her an Offie nomination, and is now with the BBC Writersroom "Welsh Voices" with a couple of original TV dramas in development. However, despite all this, you might actual recognise her because she is a viral superstar. Her skit "One WAP 12 voices", singing the infamous WAP as 12 different iconic singers, hit the ground running on twitter and had amassed millions of views and celebrity retweets within a few days. This was followed by a brilliant performance on the Ellen Degeneres Show (which you can find here) and you can follow her for more comedy gems on her twitter (@Rachel_Harper) or her instagram (@rachel_harper_comedy)It was a total pleasure chatting to Rachel, she really is one of a kind in this industry and her career shows SO much promise. I hope you enjoy the episode and as ever, if this has tugged at you heart strings in any way - please donate to the #saveourtheatres campaign here.

Rodney Vubya is a musical theatre performer who has appeared in so many things including Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Aldwych Theatre, Evita, Regents Park Open Air Theatre, and Street Scene with Opera North, UK Tour.It all sounds very impressive, but it's even MORE so when you meet him and realise how hard working and humble he is in real life. After leaving school and taking a gap year and then graduating from Leeds University with a degree in Classics before beginning vocational theatre training - let's say Rodney didn't take the typical route. It's very refreshing to hear about someone who got into it late (comparatively) and has enjoyed plenty of success down to talent, of course, but also good old-fashioned hard graft. It was an absolute joy chatting to Rodney and I hope you enjoy listening just as much. Don't forget, this is all in aid of the Theatres Trust #saveourtheatres campaign so please, donate what you can and let us know what you think! You can follow us on Instagram @thebackstagerevolution.

"I'm lost and where I think I belong doesn't exist - so I'm going to make it"So excited to kick-off the new series with actor, dancer, educator, ultimate multi-hyphenate, Christie Lee Manning. Honestly, I can't even put my finger on what it is but she is enthralling! I suppose that must be what makes her such a fantastic storyteller. We chat about her career and what has led her to this point, how she feeds her passion, and how lockdown has changed the way she sees herself and the industry. Both Ceri and I left the interview completely reinvigorated - it's the Christie effect, as I'm sure anyone that knows her can testify. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.Enjoy this episode? Guess what - that's "the arts" and it's everywhere! Theatres across the country face imminent closure and we are close to losing the beating cultural heart of the UK. Let's not let that happen! We understand that money is tight right now but, if you can, even a small donation will help to keep UK theatres afloat. On this episode, we interview the multi-faceted and immensely talented Alice Cornwell. Alice has had an extensive career in performing arts and is now studying Environmental Science at the Open University alongside her auditions. She has struggled with injuries in the past and we discuss how she dealt with them and what she might have done differently in hindsight. We also chat about whether there is anything we regret about the path we've taken in performing so far. It's a very interesting topic of discussion, especially in today's "multi-hyphenate" way of working. We'd love to know what you think. As a performer, we're often moving around for our work. So what is it like moving somewhere where you don't speak the language? We speak to the fabulous Jacob Fearey, who is currently working as Dance Captain in Bat Out of Hell Das Musical in Oberhausen, Germany. We chat about how difficult it was to adjust in the beginning, how German theatre companies treat you differently and how a 6 month contract turned into 3 years.
