Concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus have caused the cancellation or postponement of sporting events throughout the world. The outbreak of coronavirus, which has claimed the lives of at least 7,176 people and spread to more than 140 countries, has also affected sporting events across the world. The Players Championship features the most dramatic finish in golf paired with arguably the strongest field of the year. Adam Scott won his 14th PGA Tour title and returned to the world’s top 10 with a two-stroke victory at the Genesis Invitational. He beat Kuchar, Sung Kang and Scott Brown by two, with McIlroy tied fifth alongside Matsuyama, DeChambeau, Homa and Dahmen. Nick Taylor survived a windy back nine at Pebble Beach to win his second PGA Tour title. The Canadian was playing with Phil Mickelson in the final group with Lefty attempting to defend his title and win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the sixth time. Graeme McDowell shot a steady even-par 70 to win the Saudi International by two strokes on Sunday for his first European Tour title since 2014. McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open winner at windy Pebble Beach, protected his lead on a breezy afternoon by the Red Sea to card a 12-under 268 total, holding off late pressure by defending champion Dustin Johnson.
