Like most young athletes, baseball player Jesus Covarrubias had his sights on making it big. However, an ACL injury his junior year of high school not only changed the trajectory of his career, but his outlook on life. While he still went on to play at Fresno City College and independent leagues, JC’s injury allowed him to explore new passions. Growing up working side jobs while going to school and playing baseball, hard work and dedication were never foreign concepts to JC. He is never afraid to take the leap to find the next thing. Aware of creative talents, after playing in Junior College, JC pursued mural painting. He helped paint an incredible Black Lives Matter mural at the Hinton Center in Fresno, California. He then dabbled in the music industry, where he spent time mixing and producing music with a group of friends, which he still enjoys doing today. After that, JC used the money he made making music to put himself through school, where he received his computer science degree. Today he works as an engineer at Nike, which combines his love for creative problem solving and sports.
