Welcome to This Meets That, the podcast where movies combine with other movies to make other movies. It's a convoluted premise for a podcast, so I helpfully explain it over and over again until you're sick of it.

This week, I watch Steamboy, the long awaited follow up to legendary anime director Katsuhiro Otoro's Akira that passed me by back in 2004 and really brought me down in 2020, no pun intended. Then I watch The Great Mouse Detective a piece of 80's nostalgia for a 90's kid who discovered it later on video, and rediscovered it in 2020 to much less satisfying results. Then I pitch an idea I like enough to cheer me up a bit.
