Building a More Compassionate World (Starting with Ourselves) | with Sara Schairer, founder of Compassion It
Wayne Dyer said compassion is the most important lesson we can teach our children.  Compassion is a "sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it." In other words, compassion is a recognition of someone else's pain and taking steps to help alleviate their suffering. In other words, you recognize that someone is suffering, and you try to help. And "suffering" doesn't always mean someone is showing outward signs of feeling hurt. Here's another way of looking at compassion. It's empathy plus action. Throughout your daily interactions, try putting yourself in another's shoes. Then think, "What can I do to help this person?" Practicing compassion makes us happier and healthier. It strengthens relationships, creates communities and fosters world peace. Today, my conversation is with Sara Schairer. Sara founded Compassion It as a response to her own intense suffering. As a certified teacher of CCT, she has taught at the UCSD Center for Mindfulness, Kaiser Permanente, and The Naval Medical Center in San Diego. Sara is committed to reaching as many people as possible with this simple two-word message, and she believes that "compassion it" is not just a play on words. It's an action and a choice.  Sara offers insightful, actionable advice on how we can lead more compassionate lives starting at home, with ourselves. This was a great conversation, and one that I sorely needed. Sara is full of wisdom and powerful insights, and I'm so grateful to her for coming on the show. The Creator's Journey | with Ryan Rhoades
It is so easy to project ourselves into the future. We think about the things we want to do, be, or have. All of the things we want to accomplish. And in today's world where we spend so much of our time on social media, it is easy to be distracted by our desire for likes and hearts and digitally mediated approval. The Power of Awareness | with Brad Hart
Sometimes, we think we have it all only to realize that we have nothing. And sometimes, it takes losing everything to find out who we are and what we want from life. Pain has a great deal to teach us, if we allow it to. And if we open ourselves to the lessons pain has to offer, we can learn more about ourselves and our world. We can move forward in life with this new awareness and transmute that pain into great achievement and accomplishment.  My guest on this episode is Brad Hart. He shares his story with us and how he went from bartending at night to running his own multi-million dollar hedge fund and why he left all of that behind. Brad has an inspirational and abundant view of our world and wonders why we compete, like hungry hippos, for all of the marbles. Why not make more? To answer that, Brad founded MakeMoreMarbles. MMM has become a vehicle for Brad to share his gifts with the world and massively impact the lives of the people he serves.  Things We Discuss: How Brad went from being a full-time EMT who bartended in the evenings to working on Wall Street to being the CEO of a million-dollar hedge fund...which he sold without knowing what was next to eventually founding MakeMoreMarbles (3:00) How Brad first encountered abundance in his life (7:00) How going to his first Tony Robbins’ event led to him living a more fulfilling life and bringing over 100 people to his events (11:00)  The paradox of a limited experience in an infinite Universe (23:00) In this episode, you’ll learn:  The lessons pain has to offer and how it can be the impetus to creating massive changes in your life (7:00) The types of problems people with the abundance mindset encounter (8:00)  How thoughts can influence things in your environment (22:00)  How your perception of reality influences your experience of it and how you can shift your perception (27:00)  How you can be grateful for your pain (28:00)  Some of the biggest problems facing us as a species moving forward and the methods available for solving them (35:00)  Powerful Quotes from our Guest on This Episode:  “I wanted to help create something out of nothing. Why do we have to grab for all the marbles? Why don’t we just make more?”  “The Universe is  expanding in every direction endlessly. When you think about abundance, there’s so much out there. We haven’t even tapped into any reasonable percentage of it.”   “Only the things that you perceive before can you perceive again. Once you make a decision to step out of that and say, “what if I consider another angle?’ What might show up is fascinating but until you take new action, you won’t get new results.”  “We’re all part of this woven tapestry of existence.”  “People don’t get what they want, they get what they are.”  Books Mentioned in this Episode:  God Bless You Mr. Rosewater by Kurt Vonnegut (audiobook)  Connect with Brad:  Website Podcast The Marbles Mastermind with Tony Robbins --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kyle-bowe4/support
