The Ageing Millennial Podcast
The Ageing Millennial Podcast
Ammar Basit
The Ageing Millennial Podcast is for those looking to hear about issues common to us all (e.g. low self-esteem, toxic relationships, challenges of marriage, divorce, wanting therapy or doing things alone but afraid of what people will say, hating your job, etc) and how to deal with them to lead a happier and fulfilled life. I won't lie - the journey to a happier life isn't an easy one. It takes awareness, effort, time and strong will. Providing personal (e.g. I changed schools 10+ times, lived in 7+ countries, divorced, cut toxic people out of my life) and other examples in each episode, I hope to motivate and empower you to start making sustainable life changes. Episodes will be released at least once a month (trying bi-weekly or more). I do encourage listeners to make it a two-way conversation i.e. suggest topics I could cover and ask questions if you need help on a particular issue, drop an email on [email protected] or DM my IG page: https://www.instagram.com/theageingmillennial_podcast/
Taking Better Decisions
In the 20th episode (and Valentines special) of the podcast, I talk about how to start taking better decisions. It will greatly improve your overall well-being once you can decide YES or NO - there is NO middle-ground. The secret to success is consistency aka don't give up that easily once you decide to self-improve.

Thinking Before You Speak
ALL of us say things we didn't mean, which hurts the other person and/or paints a negative image of the other person. Unfortunately, we can't take our words back. This episode provides examples of the hurtful things we can say,  impact it has on children & adults (using my examples e.g. long nose) and ways to help think before speaking.

Travelling Solo Is For Everyone
The Ageing Millennial is BACK after a solo trip to Uzbekistan. Over the last couple of months I got a lot of questions related to solo travel i.e. "Ammar, isn't solo travel boring?," "How do I go on the solo travel?," "Can you share stories from your solo travel experiences?" etc. In this episode, I share my solo travel experiences including Uzbekistan, Jordan and Scotland and impact it had on me.  Remember, solo travel is for EVERYONE - doesn't matter if you're single, married, 16 or 60 years old. A Solo trip doesn't mean venturing abroad, a weekend visit to another local city/town counts!

10 Ways to Start Taking Responsibility For Your Life
“Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you; it means learning to respect and use your own brains and instincts; hence, grappling with hard work (Adrienne Rich)." In this episode I recommend '10 Ways To Start Taking Responsibility For Your Life' as well as explain what it means Taking Responsibility For Your Life. Transforming Your Life With 3 Words
A different episode to the previous ones. In this I talk about using & replacing 3 Words to Improve & Transform Your Life - words I became aware about after listening to The Mindset Mentor (Rob Dial) and Louise Hay. I provide simple examples of replacing the negative words which is sure to make a HUGE difference to your communication, behavior and thoughts. In the end, we're all striving towards self care and a happier self so let's start with small & simple changes.  The words you should replace and swap with are:HAVE --> Get ToSHOULD --> CouldBUT --> Though, However, Although, Instead, Nevertheless, Still, Yet  News: New Sleeper Bus launched in Hong Kong; Zayn Malik shockingly and sadly lashes out as his Partner's Mother-in-Law (Please don't hit your elders, not nice at all).

Coping With & Normalising Divorce
Perhaps I am being overly vulnerable in this episode and I’ll regret it later, however it's an important topic. I talk about normalising divorce (removing stigma and taboo) and how I coped with mine 2 years ago. It wasn't easy but I got through it via prioritising my well-being and support from my family & friends. I start by providing a brief overview of my 2 years of marriage, aftermath of the divorce i.e. what I had to put with and how I responded - this should help with coping in challenging situations - and why divorce isn't bad at all. This episode merely scratches the surface of divorce and I am sure to cover more in future episodes...As always, rate & review and subscribe!

Ways To Spot, Stop & Fix Controlling Behaviour
“When you let go of control and commit yourself to happiness, it is so easy to offer compassion and forgiveness. This propels you from the past, into the present. People that are negative, spend so much time trying to control situations and blame others for their problems. Committing yourself to staying positive is a daily mantra that states, “I have control over how I plan to react, feel, think and believe in the present. No one guides the tone of my life, except me! (Shannon L. Alder)."This episode is all about 'how to spot, stop & fix controlling behaviour' which shows across all parts of life (e.g. relationships: parent-child, manager-direct reports, etc) and (Adele's new song). In this episode of 'How to Spot & Stop Controlling Behaviour' I discuss:What is Controlling Behaviour? How to Spot Controlling Behaviour (using my personal experiences)?Where does Controlling Behaviour come from? Negative Impact Controlling Behaviour has on Yourself & Others How to with Stop & Fix Controlling Behaviour for both parties? I hope this episode motivates you to start fixing controlling issues in your life or making others aware of their controlling behaviour. It'd be happy to hear of your experiences - do drop me an email on: [email protected]. Not to forget, this episode features Adele and a 38min war!
