In this episode of the African Experience podcast, I invited my friend Ibrahim Mukhtar RAAGE to talk about one of the most diverse people, culture, language, history, and many other things on the African continent - the Swahilis. The history of the Swahili people and language it's one of the most fascinating things about the continents. Way before the modern era, the East Coast the African continent has had contact with other people from other continents and naturally, this resulted in a mixture of culture, ethnic diversity, genetics and so many other things.

What a year it has been. We've been through so many and as always we found ways, Not all of us but most of us.  On this episode, we talk a bit about how this year has affected us individually and the world at large. This year will definitely go down in history.

"Slavery is not African history, slavery interrupted African history" - Mutabaruka. Couldn't have said it better. But it is a part and a very impactful one at that in Africa's recent history. It has sometimes been over-exaggerated and other times understudied or not studied at all. On this episode, we talked in a historic manner the transatlantic slave trade and the understudied trans-Saharan slave trade. We are not historians nor are we qualified to talk in any academic circles on this matter. We just have conversations and talk about things through what we read and know in a casual way.

Just like uncle Ben said to Peter Parker: "With great power comes great responsibility."  What does it take to be regarded as a great leader in Africa? perseverance? dedication? Being a dictator? Democracy? What?!. With the loss of the former president of the Republic of Ghana Jerry John Rawlings aka JJ. A man who in his own words said: "Don't sing songs in praise of me, please.  Sing it in praise of Ghana and Africa, the black man. This is the first of a new series: Legacy of African Leaders. His legacy? : Stable democracy and economic growth and Pan Africanism amongst other things.

Africa is a unique melting pot. The people, the culture, the ethnic groups all different and unique in their own right.  We tried as much as we could give our two cents on this issue from our personal experiences and perspectives.
