One of the best stories on any medium
I just listened to The Balance Arc it it’s entirety again after losing my beloved dog and the way this story both splits my heart in two but gently puts it back together is hard to put into words. The unrelenting joy and chaos is balanced perfectly with real emotion and heart. Amnesty and Graduation are also top tier listens in my opinion. Thank you to the McElroy family for this wonderful gift.

this podcast changed my life
i know you’ll probably never read this but balance changed my life. i’ve been listening since i was 13, and listened to it all the way through three times. this podcast is and forever will be my biggest comfort in rough times. you guys never cease to make me feel a little less alone in this big world. thank you for being a lighthouse in the storm for this teenage girl. ❤️

BALANCE
TAZ Balance is one of the best pieces of fiction ever created and therefore a tough act to follow, but the McElroys have done quite well to keep things rolling.

The most amazing thing
I actually didn’t find the adventure zone through any of the normal channels I actually found them completely by accident. I was walking through New York and I came across one of their book signing places. It was pretty late at night and apparently they had a show there that day! So I grabbed the book sat down and immediately spend half a hour reading right there in the little pop up tent. And that book kickstarted 7 years of playing D&D and having fun doing it! D&D has been a huge part of my life these past years and I am very grateful to the fine gentle people that kickstarted it all.
Also side note: I didn’t even know that there was a podcast until like a year ago so I’m still playing catch up. I’m currently writing this review right after listening through the final episode of Graduation.
Side side note: I still have that first book that started it all. However it is very beat up since I have been reading it so much and it’s a signed copy! How cool is that!

Balance, Amnesty, all of it is soo good!!!
I have fallen in love with this podcast!! I just finished amnesty and, I thought I’d made it through without breaking down into tears, but dang it Griffin, you had to do that!! I was like “this isn’t quite as emotional as Balance” I WAS WRONG!!
I wish I was the 4th brother!
The relationship that the boys seem to have with their dad is SO beautiful!

SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD
Balance- absolutely incredible, humorous and high spirited, but with tons of lore
Amnesty-ok, but they came at the lore too quick
Graduation- amazing (haters gonna hate)
Eathersea- good but too much lore at the end and (sorry Travis) Divo sucks
Steeplechase-AMAZING! FUNNY! CREATIVE! SHOEBOX!
TAZ vs. Dracula- funny and amazing, all of the episodes make me laugh out loud
Abnimals-the only one i didn’t get through......
Battle royal - good so far but too much lore for just a hunger games like death game

Starting over for another round of listening
I am not your target demographic and have never played D&D but your stories and interaction are fun to listen to. I think this is my 3rd time through. Starting over at the beginning. You all bring something different as DMs. Thanks for the entertainment

No words
I have no words. This is an amazing podcast, for both DnD players and not. I can’t say enough about this podcast.

Great storytelling, not just dice rolling.
The McElroys bring such a unique blend of humor and warmth to this medium that often gets waylaid by rules and minutiae. The Balance campaign (first 69 episodes) is fantasy perfection and NEEDS some kind of more mainstream adaptation. Lose yourself in this hilarious and sentimental story with these good good boys and their very silly father.

My Fav, Every Time. Hands Down.
The Adventure Zone is my absolutely favorite and has been from the very beginning! The McElroys are so funny, creative, genuine, and wonderful and I love all their shows. TAZ Balance is the show I go back to whenever I want something truly special to listen to. They never fail at creating something that makes me laugh so hard I cry and cry so hard I laugh.

A bright (Candlenights) light
I am a geek and miss listening to my dad and his friends play D&D growing up, and so decided to give this a try. I’m so glad I did! The humor and heart in their episodes are a bright light that help me get through dark times and unwind. It’s the only podcast I’ve listened to from the beginning (which I highly recommend), am caught up, and wait for each episode to drop. Agree with other reviews that you should keep listening if the first few episodes don’t do it for you; once they get into their swing, it’s amazing to listen to the story (and, let’s be real, the laughs and chaos) unfold!

A Long Overdue Review
A fantastic show. My favorite arcs are Amnesty and Balance, but I've personally found something to enjoy in every arc.
Still, if all you do is listen to the first 69 episodes (nice), you'll find an excellent show with great humor and surprising heart.
If you're skeptical after the first couple of episodes, I implore you to keep pushing. The Balance Arc absolutely changed my life in so my positive ways.

Just started season 1 in 2025
I love the show. The banter and the fact that they get their dad to make jokes too. Ha. I love the camaraderie. It reminds me of the kind of relationships I have to with my own siblings. This is a great show to listen to when just trying to relax and get the occasional guffaw before nodding off.

Season 1 is leagues above
None of the other seasons hold a candle to season 1, and they haven’t quite managed to copy the magic of that season’s free-wheeling-but-also-railroaded vibe. But it’s always fun!

Cannot stop recommending!
I adore this podcast. I think it is an approachable way to get a feel for D&D and it keeps me company on long dog walks.

Thank you, TAZ
I started listening to TAZ bc the first episode appeared in my feed and was immediately hooked. I played D&D as a kid in the late 70’s/early 80s and then again in the mid 90s (yes I’m old). The brothers McElroy and Clint are funny, sweet, salty, and I just love their stories. I just caught up to Royale and am sad that I have to wait between episodes. Thank you, TAZ, for existing!

This podcast got me into dnd
I started with ep 1 not too long ago and through dedication and effort found a local group to play with and it’s the best stupid fun a person can have in these dark times. Highly recommend.

Best goddamn podcast EVER
I started with balance(as everyone should) and have been listening to it for like six months now. It’s the best and the mcelroys are so hilarious and I hope they continue it for many years to come.

love my mcelboys

Best creators
These fun-living brothers will steal your heart again and again. They might bend the rules a bit, but that is exactly what makes this family unique, and allows them to tell stories in a way that truly matters. Thank you four for everything, you have inspired so many young creators to tell stories the way they want to tell them. I’ve listened to other dnd podcasts here and there, but this is the one for me.

Amazing
The best podcast I’ve ever listened to fun, creative and a great role-playing game by myself play dungeons and dragons, but they don’t just play dungeons the dragons in this podcast. But with all the other games they make it just as fun as their first season overall all the episodes I listened to draw me in and I just couldn’t stop listening to him. This is a wonderful

As good as it’s ever been
I honestly never write these kind of reviews. I can’t remember the last time I did. But I’m really enjoying listening to Adventure Zone Royale. I’ve been an intermittent listener for the past few seasons, but now I’m eagerly awaiting every episode again, wishing they came more often. So thankful for the McElroy Brothers keeping the pod going and keeping true to themselves.

Still so, so good
They somehow find a way to continue telling thoughtful, compelling, hilarious stories.
rogan is NOT great
Just awesome
I left a really long and crazy review one time but let me shorten this up. Adventure zone is awesome 10/10 Would listen to all of it again. Perfect balance (see what I did there?) between game and story. Highly recommend.

4 Stars only because of Balance
Balance is great, Vs Dracula is fun despite the editing choices. Amnesty is ok and Ethersea is meh. Skip Graduation and Abdimals, they are truly terrible.

Love Griff
Sweet baby boy, Griffin, is genuinely a top-tier DM. Great show, love TAZ v Dracula.

Letting Travis run again was such a terrible decision, and he’s cratered my interest in the show. Really sad.

I listened to one episode and was hooked exclamation mark
I love the rest of the McElroy Canon, and I decided to give the show a try. I was not disappointed. Absolutely hilarious!

The best
My favorite podcast. Every story arc is hilarious, moving, and well-crafted. I love the chaotic silliness of Abnimals and the send-up of all of those cartoons that I used to watch.
