Today we're joined by Nikita Jew! As a professional ballet dancer, Nikita was introduced to Pilates as a cross training method to build core strength and improve her balance. When she experienced a stress fracture injury to her leg, Pilates was used to rehabilitate her injury without putting strain on her joints while maintaining full body strength. Pilates was also used to rehabilitate post pregnancy, allowing her to regain core strength and correct postural deviance. She received her Mat Certification through Mindbody Connections and her full comprehensive apparatus certification through BASI (Body Arts and Science International). Nikita teaching style focuses on alignment, correct posture, placement, while integrating creative and challenging exercises for her clients. She loves working with Athletes, people with injuries, office workers and Pre/Postnatal mothers.
In this episode, Nikita Jew tackles all things Pilates:
1. Who is Nikita and who does she specialize in working with?
2. Top 5 benefits of incorporating pilates into your weekly exercise routine.
3. How Nikita feels pilates and physical therapy fit together.
4. Top 3 signs you're working with a great pilates instructor.
5. Stories of working with higher level athletes and how it differs (or doesn't differ) comparatively to the general population.
