This is absolutely one of the best podcasts in the "vanished material culture" genre. One of the reasons for that is the producer/author does thorough research and is clearly professional...all without being part of a commercial podcasting outfit. A rare find indeed. All of which likely has something to do with why she seems to have vanished at the start of the Pandemic. All I can say is Ashley, I hope you're well, and please try to come back. You are missed.

What a refreshing breath of fresh air it felt listening to this podcast - This is one that desperately deserves a second season sometime because there’s an enormous audience out there just waiting to find “The Abandoned Carousel” ~ If I’m fortunate enough to find my”self” in a utopia in my minds’ eye after my body, heart and brain, has ceased and turned to dust, I pray I’ll get an opportunity to visit (most of) these little parks of joy - because listening to this program was almost always spiritually uplifting to my ‘inner child’. **Yes, there are a few amusement parks here that had me thinking how much better it could be if only they had remained in the blank of non-existence. Of course, these make for pretty entertaining listens in between the regular Happy episodes!

Extremely educational, and entertaining, if you enjoy deep dives into the history of amusement parks! Ashley’s narration is crisp and clear, but still full of passion about the tales these old locations have to tell.

I love hearing the stories about these amazing defunct theme parks. Ashley’s very clear voice is perfect for telling these stories. Great job and unique idea for a show.
