Women have so very rarely been allowed to be truly free, unencumbered, and as autonomous as men. Thus, so many women’s contributions throughout history have been cut short. It’s easy to believe the societal narrative that we are without value if we have not been chosen to bear a man’s children or take his last name, but that’s not true. For some women living in this paradigm might make them satisfied. But for some women, we must be free to walk a path our foremothers could not.
