Blazin' Squad and Siobhan From Sugababes feat. Tabatha Papps (5 July 2003)
I may have put my back out, but the celebration of 2000s pop music must continue. This week's episode is all about break-ups. From the many stories that have circulated about why the Sugababes have broken up to the savage war of words between Evanescence, July 20003 is a big week for bitchy pop stars.Everything is about to change in 00s pop culture next week when Beyoncé releases Crazy in Love. But until then we're stuck with a UK top 40 singles chart that includes Blazin' Squad, flop girlband Tommi and Jay-Z's terrible Panjabi MC remix. On the plus side, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are FINALLY bringing some good indie music to the charts - even if the Top of the Pops director has to upskirt Karen O in the process. Fast Food Rockers & Ashanti feat. The Darkness' Public Lice (28 June 2003)
Join host Samuel Spencer on this nostalgic tribute to the chart shows of the 2000s, where we explore the top 40 singles chart from this time 20 years ago....And this week's chart may be the most stuck in the noughties the chart has been so far. This week's 2003 countdown features a rogue's gallery of pop music stars who would be essentially unknown by the end of the decade. In the last top 40 of June 2003, our collective arteries were blocked by the cholesterol of Fast Food Rockers endlessly singing "A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut". We were also left exhausted by the over-the-top dancing of Jennifer Ellison, and left feeling weirdly itchy 'down there' by The Darkness. But pop music was not all bad at at this point in 00s music. Ashanti released an iconic R&B 'bop' it would take the British public 20 years to fully appreciate, and Wayne Wonder was ready to soundtrack a million 2000s barbecues with his laidback anthem No Letting Go.On this week's The 2000s Chart Show, we discuss those songs and more. We also speak to Dannii Minogue about being one of the first artists to play gay bars, discuss the philosophy of S Club, and learn the harrowing story of Delta Goodrem's 2003 cancer struggle. All that plus the following pop music:50 Cent - In Da ClubAbs - Stop SignAmy Studt - MisfitAshanti - Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)The Bandits - Take It And RunB2K - GirlfriendBig Brovaz - Favourite ThingsBusta Rhymes and Mariah Carey - I Know What You WantChristina Aguilera - FighterDannii Minogue - Don't Wanna Lose This FeelingThe Darkness - Growing On MeDavid Sneddon - Don't Let GoDelta Goodrem - Lose Without YouDillinja feat.
