I’ve been trying to build a more personal connection with some of the artists I feature on the podcast, in that spirit, this week’s band comes by way of Jess, my new best friend. We met on my recent trip to Arizona, and I figured I’d put her on the spot for some recommendations. She came through with Mogley & The Zoniez, longtime listeners will know exactly why I went with their song “Cheeseburgers.” Let’s check it out.

I found Estrogen Projection a while back, so long ago, in fact, that I thought they might’ve broken up. I didn’t see them posting much on the socials for a while, but it looks like they’re back in action. They’ve been posting shows, and while I’d love to catch one, they’re all the way in Lincoln, Nebraska, so that might not be in the cards for me. But if you’re in their neck of the woods, don’t miss out! I went with their energetic anthem, “Workers’ Revolution (Unionized Version)” turn it up!

It’s a full house for this Stripped Down edition of the 110 Podcast as Kaylee, Heidi, Trevor, and Uncle Mike of Rowland (episode 179) somehow squeeze into my tiny spare bedroom to record a beautiful rendition of “Tear Stained,” followed by a short but sweet interview. We get into what it’s like making music as a family, branching out on their own, how the band name came to be, what success in music looks like to them, and a few other fun bits along the way.

Mediocre was another one of those love-at-first-listen kind of bands. They have a few more listens than normally qualifies an artist to be featured on this podcast, but you know me, I always find the poophole loophole. Their debut album, Growth Eater, if full of bangers, but I went with the mellow closing track, “Kindling.” It’s lit!

My first exposure to Dining Dead was the track “Angel of Logic” off their most recent album, Is This a House? I thought about sharing that song, but it had too many listens. So I went hunting for some deep cuts, and I found quite a few. In the end, I went with “White Russians” off their previous offering, Medium Rare, be sure to give their entire catalog a listen.

I came across Blair Borax thanks to the Instagram algorithm, I almost lost her, but luckily I noticed we had Joe Plowman in common and was able to quickly relocate her. I checked out all three of her full-length albums, truly an embarrassment of riches. In the end, I settled on “Oh No!” off 2024’s Tender Lately for it’s deep lyrics and sing-a-long quality. Be forewarned, it’s an earworm!

This week, I’m tapping into the raw, punk rock energy of Vancouver-based Kaia Jae and The Drink Tickets. I loved all the little details in “Better Without You” off their 2023 album, Better. The lyrics cut me deep in my panza. The rest of the album alludes to a lot of chisme, which left me wishing for all the juicy details! Be sure to check them out.

Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason behind why I click on an artist, I’m just a big weirdo. In this case, Berenice caught my eye because she reminded me of one of my favorite movies. I’m featuring her song “Wifey Material” which is a bit of a departure from what I usually bring to the show. The first time I heard it, it took me back to cruising around with my best friend when we first learned to drive. Berenice is currently based in London, but keep an eye out, I have a feeling she’ll be making her way to our side of the pond very soon.

I’m taking you all the way to the UK this week to meet Creepy Crawly. With a name like that, I knew I had to hit play and I’m so glad I did. I’m featuring “The Shit I’m Swimming In” one of many bangers from her 2025 album, Like a Real Thing. Hope you dig it as much as I do.

This episode starts off feeling like groundhog day, but I promise it’s brand new! It just so happens to also have a food/drink theme. Don’t believe me? Well, this one has a clip from the band, and it’s been a while since we had one of those. I’m featuring “Beer at the Bar” by New York City’s own Strange Neighbors! A lot of lines in this song resonated with me and I hope you dig it as much as I do.
