Thanks for joining us for this episode of That’s Why We’re Friends. The podcast is created for women in the oldish season of life, where we get real & vulnerable about all things: faith, family, our bodies, health & everything in between. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! In Episode 52, we’re talking about finding our value and purpose in whatever season God has us in—even when that season looks different than we expected.Sometimes we can feel “unheard” or “unseen” because of the job we have, the position we hold, or the season we’re walking through. But our jobs don’t define us, and they don’t determine our purpose. We can choose to glorify God and advance His kingdom wherever He has placed us.And when we retire from a career, we don’t retire from the work God has called us to do in His Kingdom. Our purpose doesn’t have an expiration date.We also talk about what God is doing in the waiting. Just because we can’t see what He’s doing doesn’t mean He isn’t working. Sometimes He is doing something in us so He can eventually do something through us.Wherever you are right now, there is purpose in your season. You are seen, you are valued, and God is still working. To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebiesRemember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on!Find us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thatswhy_werefriends/OR at https://thatswhywerefriends.com/And watch our episodes on YouTube here:https://www.youtube.com/@thatswhywerefriends*Note: this description may contain affiliate links to products we enjoy using or mention on the show. The podcast is created for women in the oldish season of life, where we get real & vulnerable about all things: faith, family, our bodies, health & everything in between. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! In this episode, we’re joined by Colleen Stickl, pastor’s wife at Valley Creek Church, for a conversation about purpose, calling, vocation, and what it looks like to follow God into the next season of our lives. We can make plans for our lives, but ultimately, God is the One who prepares and directs our steps. Sometimes He is shaping us in ways we don’t understand yet, preparing us for something He has ahead.Together, we unpack the difference between vocation, calling, and purpose—and how each of these can show up in our everyday lives. We talk about recognizing God’s preparation, trusting His direction, and remembering that our purpose and calling aren’t ultimately about us—they’re for His name’s sake.“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6If you’ve ever wondered, “What am I supposed to be doing with my life?” or felt like God might be preparing you for something you can’t quite see yet, this conversation is for you.To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebiesRemember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on!Find us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thatswhy_werefriends/OR at https://thatswhywerefriends.com/And watch our episodes on YouTube here:https://www.youtube.com/@thatswhywerefriends*Note: this description may contain affiliate links to products we enjoy using or mention on the show. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! What does a cat named Frankie have to do with purpose? More than you might think. 😂 This week, we're talking about work and purpose—the work we love, the work we'd rather not do & the purpose God can give us in all of it. Sometimes we don't need a new job, a new season or a new assignment—we simply need a new perspective. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! 💕💕💕This week on That’s Why We’re Friends…Life isn't always easy—and Jesus never promised it would be.What He did promise is that He would never leave us, never forsake us, and that He would remain faithful through every trial we face.In this episode, we're talking about celebrating God's faithfulness in every season, especially the difficult ones. We reflect on the importance of remembering what God has already done, trusting that the same God who carried us before will carry us again, and believing that even when we don't understand the outcome, He is still working all things together for our good.We also discuss the biblical idea of "memorial stones"—the moments we intentionally remember God's provision so that when the next hard season comes, we have tangible reminders of His goodness and faithfulness. If you're walking through a battle today or simply need to remember that God has been faithful before, this conversation is a reminder that His character never changes... and that's always worth celebrating.💕💕💕To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebiesRemember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on!Find us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thatswhy_werefriends/OR at https://thatswhywerefriends.com/And watch our episodes on YouTube here:https://www.youtube.com/@thatswhywerefriends*Note: this description may contain affiliate links to products we enjoy using or mention on the show. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! —----This week on That’s Why We’re Friends…We're all looking forward to something. The vacation. The new job. The answered prayer. The season that's easier than the one we're in today. But what if we're so focused on what's next that we miss what God is doing right now?In this episode, we talk about the quiet beauty of everyday faithfulness and why acknowledging God in the ordinary moments is a celebration in itself. Even when life is hard, God remains faithful & choosing to recognize His presence changes the way we experience each day.We discuss why it's healthy to plan for the future without living there, how gratitude keeps our hearts grounded, and why the life we're living today is already filled with reasons to celebrate. If you've been waiting for "someday" before allowing yourself to experience joy, this conversation is your invitation to celebrate the gift of today.—-------To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebiesRemember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on!Find us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thatswhy_werefriends/OR at https://thatswhywerefriends.com/And watch our episodes on YouTube here:https://www.youtube.com/@thatswhywerefriends*Note: this description may contain affiliate links to products we enjoy using or mention on the show. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! —----This week on That’s Why We’re Friends…Celebration is easy when life is going well... but what about when it isn't?This week we're joined by our friend, Abby Boerger, for a conversation about choosing celebration in every season. We talk about why gratitude and celebration aren't just emotions; they're muscles that grow stronger the more we practice them. From celebrating the people God has placed in our lives (yes, including our husbands!) to learning how to be fully present with those around us, we explore how intentional celebration shifts our perspective and fills our hearts instead of leaving us empty. If you've been waiting for life to feel "worth" celebrating, this episode is a gentle reminder that God is present in both the mountaintops and the valleys, and there's always something to praise Him for.Grab your coffee and join us for this encouraging conversation.—-------To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebiesRemember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on!Find us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thatswhy_werefriends/OR at https://thatswhywerefriends.com/And watch our episodes on YouTube here:https://www.youtube.com/@thatswhywerefriends*Note: this description may contain affiliate links to products we enjoy using or mention on the show. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! —----This week on That’s Why We’re Friends…This week, we're kicking off our month of celebration by celebrating something we're incredibly thankful for... friendship. It's been almost a year since we first introduced ourselves on the podcast, so we thought it was time for a deeper (and much more entertaining!) round of getting to know us. From "Who's more likely to...?" questions and rapid-fire answers to meaningful conversations about faith, life, and the moments that have shaped us, this episode is full of laughter, honesty, and a few surprises.More than anything, we're reminded that godly friendships don't just make life more fun; they help us carry burdens, celebrate victories, point each other back to Jesus, and remind us that we were never meant to do life alone.Whether you've been listening since Episode 1 or you're joining us for the first time, we're so glad you're here. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! —----This week on That’s Why We’re Friends…In this episode, we are joined by special guest Chris Pitt for a powerful conversation about forgiveness, freedom, identity, and the restoring work of God.Chris shares his personal journey and reminds us that forgiveness is not simply about letting someone off the hook. It's about stepping out of the prison that unforgiveness creates and walking into the freedom Christ has already secured for us.We talk about receiving God's forgiveness, extending forgiveness to others, and the importance of refusing to live under shame and condemnation. Looking at the story of the woman caught in adultery in the Gospel of John, we're reminded that Jesus does not call us to remain stuck in our past. He calls us to get up, walk forward, and live in the freedom He purchased for us.We also discuss the power of testimony, the truth of our identity in Christ, and how God continually redeems, restores, and reconciles broken things. While God does the restorative work, we are invited to partner with Him by taking faithful steps forward. This episode is a reminder that nothing can separate us from the love of God, and that freedom begins when we stop living from a victim identity and start living from our identity in Christ.—-------To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebiesRemember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on!Find us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thatswhy_werefriends/OR at https://thatswhywerefriends.com/And watch our episodes on YouTube here:https://www.youtube.com/@thatswhywerefriends*Note: This description may contain affiliate links to products we enjoy using or mention on the show. If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it! —----This week on That’s Why We’re Friends…In this episode, we continue our conversation around freedom and the Father’s heart by talking about the difference between feelings and truth. So often we wait to feel free before we start living free, but true freedom in Christ is not based on emotion. It is rooted in truth. We talk about what it looks like to acknowledge our feelings without allowing them to become the final authority in our lives. We discuss the importance of putting faith first, facts next, and feelings last, and how God’s Word helps anchor us when emotions try to pull us into fear, shame, discouragement, or bondage. We also talk about practical ways to keep truth in front of us through Scripture, speaking truth aloud, community, and consistently returning to God’s Word so His truth becomes planted deeply in our hearts and minds. This episode is a reminder that even in seasons where we feel stuck or are struggling, we are still fully loved and fully free in Christ. Freedom is not something we earn when life feels easy.
