There's news articles popping up every week sharing that the majority of elementary students are "behind" in reading, especially after the pandemic.
Before we start beating the drums of accountability and doing what we've always done--harder, better, or faster--let's unpack what this data is telling us. What's important? What's not important? AND what might we need to do to *actually* give kids what they need?
Hint: It's NOT more bandaids, finger wagging, or pats on the back for our educators.
On the episode, we're joined by Michele Morenz, DPS Regional Literacy Specialist, to hear her brilliant insights as a former teacher, literacy interventionist, and now as someone who sees reading instruction daily in multiple schools across the district.
Listen to hear our solutions, because we figured it ALL out.
